Oh, ho! In 2004 (the most recent data released) Massachusetts had, in fact, the SECOND LOWEST divorce rate in the country (2.2%). The divorce rates actually went DOWN after gay marriage was legalized in 2000 (from 3%).

Gay marriage doesn't neccessarily "threaten" straight marriage. Just because one person is gay doesn't mean another person is. Straight marriages that end badly, and in divorce, are not neccessarily because one spouse chooses to come out of the closet.

Who said it threatens heterosexual marriages?

I just heard on the news today that a gay couple was calling it quits but had to go to, I think, Rhode Island to get a divorce.

You are trying to reach a seemingly logical conclusion based upon a false premis.
Gay "marriage" does not threaten "straight" marriage.

Mass. is a pretty liberal state. Probably more couples are living together without benefit of matrimony. Therefore, when they break up, they don't have to bother with a divorce.

Actually, all indications are that divorce rates are the lowest they've been in decades.

All gay marriage threatens is someone else's ability to tell another human being what they can or cannot do.

The premise is false. That does not render the data uninteresting if it is available.
