Hey! I'm out there exploring religions too!
I've noticed that many "Christians" are like this, and want you to change because their lifestyle says yours is a sin. I had a roommate at college this year, was one of .... uh two, actually, real true Christians I've ever run across. They didn't give a heck how I lived my life and offered me advice when I asked for it and it didn't relate to the Bible every three words or anything! A real Christian is someone who accepts you unconditionally and can acknowledge that their way is not the only way! I love true real Christians!
I figure the others who call themselves Christians are telling you that you are going to hell because they want to get a seat next to you. "Judge not yest ye be judged" or something?
Good luck on understanding them all, I've been at it awhile!

First off I want to tell you that I both respect you as person and as an atheist. Yeah I understand what your saying, and honestly its not the first time I've heard it. Afer all I'm a Christian and I hear it all the time. You want me to be honest? The reason why we preach so loudly is so people like you don't make the wrong choice. (yes i know you've heard this line fed to you before but don't judge me wait until i'm finished). Its not that Christians don't respect other people; we do. We're taught to do that. Thats why so many people are Christians. The reason why we are the quickest to tell people they are going to Hell is, because if their not Christians its true. Our goal in life is to reach as many people as possible (if you will make them 'believers' in God). Thats what Christians are called to do. The Bible tells Christians that Jesus is coming back very soon, and that we are to work quickly to get as many people we can into His kingdom. Thats why we are so quick to say it. I'm not saying we couldnt be less forceful (I do know that turns a lot of people off and thats something all Christians need to work on), but what I'm saying is we care about other people, and again if you will, save their lives through Christ by telling them about Jesus.
I end with this. I respect you enough to tell you about Jesus, and to show you the right way to go. If you want to talk more feel free to contact me.

I think it's admirable of you to try to understand other religions
since your an atheist.
As a christian I try to show people love and grace thru my actions. I believe those you have talked to have the right motive but come across too harshly. The bible tells us Hell IS a terrible place and if we love others we shouldn't want them to go there .
Try to think of something you really believe in. Maybe a experience that has happened to you and you'd like to share
that with someone to help them. I pray that in your searching
you find truth.

I have been on r&s daily for a long time and know your claim to be bogus. Look at the snide and loud questions from the atheists. If there was never a remark by a Christian that you claim, the atheists would still try to stomp out christianity. And there are no ifs, ands, or buts about that.

Oh shut up and stop whinning. What the hell place to you come from? Are Christians constantly standing on your lawn and shooting judgemental glances at your aluminum siding? Why did you even feel the need to point out you're an atheist? You probably just being a giant self obsesed baby who thinks Christians are pouring out the venitlation shafts throwing crosses in the air and preaching.

in christianity some people if not most are swindled into believing such bull crap, even the most retarded person can be easily persuaded to believe in Jesus our "lord and savior". believing in this God makes people feel good like they are a part of something, like as if they are bigger and better than everyone else, gives them a sense of self-intelligence. How many retarded atheists do you know?? i dont know to many....... but in return christians will say the same about the atheists, but it debates atheists respond with more intellectual and scientifically proven theories rather than christians who rely on the bible made thousands of years ago to counter everything the non-believers have to say, which are always irrational and irrelevant answers.

I don't. I don't care if you believe or not. Our job was to spread the word, I don't know anyone who hasn't heard it, so I figure its done. If you choose not to believe, that's called free will. I have actually told people to go to hell, but honestly, it had nothing to do with religion, it had to do with being ticked off at the time. I've never told someone they're going to hell for their beliefs or non-beliefs, its not my call, I'm not God. So apparently you're talking to all those "other" christians, which I'm betting don't exist, or if so, then there's probably only one who's ever told you you're going to hell. Bashers just like to lump us all together, spend all their free time on here insulting and ridculing other people for their beliefs for the fun of it, kinda like I just lumped you in with all the other bashers, even though you might actually not be a basher. How's that feel?

They shouldn't be saying that "you will go to hell." Though it may be the reality, they can not make that choice. It will be between you and God. You don't shove it in someones face. Rather the Christian should be praying for you. I think they just get mad and frustrated, then they go off at the mouth. It takes time to learn to be nice all the time.
But it isn't just the Christians, I've seen them all do it.

Imagine you'd discover a scientifically unconventional substance that cures the AIDS, and a strong conspiracy would keep you from making your finding widely known. Wouldn't you be eager to tell about it to as many people as you can? And if your sick acquaintances, brainwashed by this powerful, subtle conspiracy, refused to try it, wouldn't you tell them plainly they'll DIE unless they accept the remedy?
If we Christians are so plain about the eternity of the people around us, that's because the truth we hold makes us deeply concerned. That's why we take the risk of being misunderstood instead of simply staying politically correct.

As Christians, we were commanded by Jesus to preach the truth. Not to forcibly convert through scare tactics like the false doctrine of an eternally burning hellfire. This doctrine has no basis in the Bible and is completely at odds with the God of love. The penalty of sin is death. Simple non-existence. Not eternal torture.
