I would suggest crate training as a dog doesn't get full bladder control until 6 mos.
Kibbles and bits is like feeding your child a diet of mmmmmm good candy nothing but sugar. Iwould suggest a good nutritional puppy food.
as far as leash trainging just put a leash on her and let her drag it around to get use to it. then when you take her for a walk let her at first lead you around. then as time goes on stop and when she starts to go carazy bend down give a little pull and coax heer to you giving her a lot of praise.
Make sure she is up to date on ALL her shots. in my area they have puppy dog obedience classes starting at 8 weeks old .
Good luck wiht your little furball my older sister had one for 14 years before it died of old age. they are great dogs and good protection

Just to say you shouldn't teach her very physical tricks until she's a lot older or when her bones are strong enough. For example, if you were using a toy like a frisbee, you throw it, the puppy could twist it's back when jumping for it. Just extra info.
I don't think you should be referring to tricks just yet. Basic tricks yes: sit, lie down, shake etc. At the same time you should teach her to walk with you while on the leash.
American Eskimos or Spitz do not regularly need walks. After 6 months yes, you're right they will be independant. They enjoy looking outside and guarding the place.
Hope this helps.

I can't help you with food choices, but I know training. START NOW.
You can teach "drop" using your finger to coax her jaw open.
You can teach "sit" by elevating a treat over her head.
You can teach "down" by dragging a treat in front of a sitting puppy.
You can teach "come" by walking away from your puppy & pleading for her to follow. (make sure no distractions)
You can teach "fetch" rolling a tennis ball between two people in a hallway.
All this without a training collar. You can do this NOW. Fortunately, American Eskimos are fairly smart, so this should not be hard.
Vaccinate now. Train immediately. Socialize as much as possible.
Have fun!

Kibbles n Bits is more of a snack food, honestly. You need to give her something real healthy. I suggest INNOVA. It's made in California so there's a good chance it would never have rat poison in it! I know when i first got my puppy, i mixed canned food with the wet and transitioned her at about 3 months to just dry. I don't think it's ever too early to start training. She'll get used to the leash...be patient.

I would start clicker training with the dog. If you get him used to training by the clicker method, you will be able to train him anything. There is a "Dummy's" book on clicker training for dogs.
I dont honestly recommend Kibbles and Bits or Puppy Chow. I had my dogs on both when they were young and their coats were dry and brittle. I switched to Natural Choice then to Canidae. Both are a bit more expensive than what was recommended, but they are long term better for the dogs. They can usually be purchased at Pet Stores or at a local feed store.

Hi, I understand that you are looking for some advice or resources to help fully train your dog or fix behavior problems. If a professional dog trainer is not an option at this time, or if you want to trt training your dog on your own (a great way to bond), I'd suggest you https://bitly.im/aMSmf
A friend recommened it to me a few years ago, and I was amazed how quickly it worked, which is why I recommend it to others. The dog training academy also has as an excellent home training course.

You can start to do sit, Give you her paw. stay, look at me, lay down ect. the leash is one thing pups have to get used to. You can put her leash on for 1/2 hour at a time and let her drag it around for a few days then pick it up and walk with her in the yard. Once she is comfortable with that then you can walk with her. I would stick very close to home until she has all her shots to make sure she doesnt pick up anything. Parvo is a nasty virus so keep her away from other dogs and NO dog park.
Have fun with your new pup!

I have a mini dachshund and we trained her at four months. I would reccomend teaching her simple commands like sit, down, and stay first then leash training her b/c it will be a lot easier to keep her focused and cooperative. We hired a dog trainer and that is what she told us. As for food our veterinarian told us that foods w/o wheats and sugars are best b/c they are the most common allethies in dogs and makes them healthier and and not so hyper.

Getting the right training collar for your American Eskimo dog is extremely important. Try to correct as the bad behaviour is about to happen. It's all about timing the correction, keeping calm and communicating effectively. With our Eskies, we found that lowering the voice and whispering the commands works best. Something special about whispering that they like. Instant attention grabber.
