On the contrary, sleeping can burn calories. Did you know that you burn more calories while sleeping than watching TV ( so just imagine those who love to munch on something while their caught up in a really good movie). So no, sleeping won't cause you to gain weight. But it won't make you slimmer either. Of course you have to watch your diet and exercise regularly. And after a really good work out, you can rest and get some sleep to help add to the calories that you have lost.

Getting too little sleep will cause you to gain weight. When you sleep your body does most of its repair and cleansing work. If you don't get enough sleep your body has to do its repair and cleansing when you are awake so it doesn't have the energy available to digest the food you eat during the day so it stores it as fat.
Getting more sleep may cause you to lose weight because you are not eating at that time and your body has more energy to burn your daily calories after its repaired and cleansed itself.

I have heard that getting 8 to 9 hours of sleep helps you to lose or maintain weight.

You lose more weight when you sleep. You lose about 60 calories per hour just by sleeping.

Weight gain is eating more calories than you burn. It is not from getting too much sleep. Besides you can not eat while you are asleep.

No way, sleep is very good for you. Especially if you are weight training because muscles do not grow while you train, they grow while you sleep.
So make sure you are getting sufficient zzzz to make those muscles BIG!

could desire to be which you are not getting sufficient exercising. i'm fairly hyperactive and bump into insomnia if i do no longer do an extreme work out familiar. yet loss of exercising is a rationalization for the two indications. Sorry no one is answering your question, I hate that.
