I've never been told that before.

Believe it or not, we atheists tend to get along just find with most pagans. As several other people have already stated, neither of us tries to convert the other, we don't try and get our point of view put into legislation or the schools.

Pagans I find are usually pretty easy going, don't mind a little good natured ribbing about their beliefs, and since they are generally harmless, I leave them alone

Christians and Muslims are the scary dangerous ones.

Never heard that one before. Sorry. Some of us even do believe Yahweh exists - we just don't believe his claims/follow him.

And as to the other answer that talks about Thor/etc - yes, many of us actually do believe that the gods really do exist.

No, but next time a polytheist asks me how I could not believe in their gods, I'll say that.

Atheists don't say that to me.
I have tons of atheist friends. We're happy to get along because none of us a) tries to convert the other and b) tries to legislate our beliefs into our country.

No, they are very nice to us, although they think us deluded. As for the joke that Thor is somehow less credible than God, there are many of everything, planets, stars, galaxies, animals, plants, and only ONE god, logic would dictate that if there is such a thing as a supreme force in the universe, it would be in the form of many beings.

Are there actually polytheists these days?

I thought most people who call themselves neopagans use their gods more as metaphors than anything else. I doubt anyone believes in a *literal* Zeus or Thor.

The argument would still apply, though. I'd be somewhat surprised to find someone who could see why Christianity is bogus but who couldn't see why Thor doesn't exist.

No. Atheists are not atheist to piss off Christians or Jews or any religious people. We believe there is no god (or gods). Therefore I believe they are all wrong.
