Depends on the lake, but, dogs also drink toilet water with no ill effect. Dog's can get parasites easily, but, it wouldn't be the same as a human drinking from the lake.
Ask a veterinarian, and give him specifics on the lake.

If the lake is in bad shape, yes it can. My friend's dog got a fatal bacterial infection from swimming in a contaminated lake. You never know what people put in lakes nowadays... some sewage can leak in, which is what happened to my friend's dog. If it's a natural lake, I wouldn't worry about it. I would just be cautious... Chances are that if there are live fish in there and other creatures, it's ok. If there is no sign of life and it looks/smells bad, I'd stay away. You could always get the water tested if it's on your property or something...

It depends on the lake. And what's in the lake at the time he/she drank from it. I know our local beach was closed because it was above the e-coli limit. If dogs--or anyone--and been drinking for it during that time period they could have become ill. But ordinary our dogs drink from the water and they're fine.

It all depends on the lake and what it has been contaminated with in most cases it's probably fine I would just keep an eye on your dog for the next few days and make sure it doesn't show any odd symptoms (throwing up, lethargic, lack of appetite, loose stool etc.) and if it does show any symptoms take it the vet A.S.A.P.

yes, i would not let me dog eat or drink anything from anyone or anywhere unless if was from a friends house. Rarely when i go to the dog park i wont let other dogs drink water from my dogs' dish and vice versa. You never know what they can catch so why take a chance. I would be heartbroken if my dogs got sick or died due to negligence or carelessness. good luck

The real answer depends on the lake, its parasites and pollution, and the condition of the dog.

No, not really...if they drink water from a standing puddle, then he/she could get sick. Has something to do with the mosquito eggs. .

Hello...rarely would it make a dog sick, like it would humans as they digest & things pass pretty fast thru their systems..unlike humans, I know people like to equate dogs with being human, in reality ..they are not ..LOL !! Take Care :)
