Props to your mom, she knows that stuff is horrible for your health. (Plus mystic tans look so fake.)
Anyway the best tips I have found through experience:
Get a tanning oil or sunblock. (remember that if you don't rub it in all the way and leave white showing you won't tan.)
Lay out in the sunniest spot in the yard
Go 15 minutes on one side then flip over for another 15.
Since you aren't that tan starting out you might want to go for 8-10 minutes to avoid a bad sunburn.
pace yourself. it's the key to a safe and pain free tan.

Well, living here in Az its not that hard to tan from just standing outside. =] But, in your case, I think you should get a good book and lay a towel down in your backyard for about a half hour. You can buy oil from the tanning boths or even from the grocery store. Baby oil works too. But just lay on your stomache for like 15 mins and then turn over and lay on your back. If you start getting red tho, go inside. =] Eveyones skin is differnt, so it could take longer or shorter time. You wont see it right away, so don't worry. But you should start seeing a tan in a few days if you do it every day or every other day. =] Hope that helped!

I hate pretend tans with a keenness, in the event that they do no longer make you seem orange then you get that weird and wonderful tan 'reason there is not any shine on your epidermis that's horrific! i individually like organic Tans. I stay in Florida so for me organic Tans are a could desire to!! =)

1/2 an hour everyday is enought time in the sun, but you must use a sunscreen, get your tan gradually!! not all at once, cause you'll do damage to your skin..

I would reccomend you buy sunscreen not sunblock and that if its really drastic that you buy suncreen tanning. It is not fake it just makes better use of the sun and it has tanning oil in it but it is not tanning oil. good luck!! bb!
