I did some research on fasting before I started my 40 day fast and a great website is www.quickfasting.com. True biblical fasting is water only. The key is to ease into the fast with the Eden Diet which is basically anything that is a fruit or vegetable and must be uncooked. I also started eating smaller meals and cutting out junk like doughnuts, candy, etc. I actually planned to start my fast on May 28, 2007 but decided I was ready and started early. In the early stages I had some headaches and just felt weird. Of course I'm on my 2nd day and feel okay. Most of the hunger pangs have left and I've lost 10 lbs. I am not doing this for those benefits, even though I will lose weight, but for spiritual reasons. God Bless You!

you don't need to do it for 40 days at the most it should be 21 days. but drink lots of juices.broth and eat lots of veg. have protein shakes. God doesn't matter about the time just as long as you do your best and have the right motives not trying to lose weight i did one for 10days to get beakthrough in healing from a lump i found and it worked. Go on these websites.

fresh lemons, pinch of cayenne pepper, maple syrup per 8oz of water. that will cover 10 days

do some colon irrigation before fasting. enemas & colonics

Don't starve your brain! You don't want to cause a automobile accident. At least eat wholesome oatmeal. Kosher! SlimFast drinks are good. Maybe eat granola bars. Lipton Green Tea bottled.

dont do it!!!
body needs 50cal/hour just for basic functioning (like when you are in coma) and thats 1200cal/day - and thats for a person under 150lbs.
and you are moving and being active so you burn so much more than that.
fasting is dangerous and leads to serious health problems including diabetes and strokes.
