I was stopped for speeding 17 miles over. The ticket says radar gun was used and it was raining. I was placed in the police car b/c of a "warrant". I did not see a radar gun and it was not raining. We have this on videotape. (The not raining part.) This case is still going to court. How can I prove there was no radar? Or how can the police prove that the radar was working and tested over four years ago.

Cities are just wh@res for money. Even if you are completely right, you may have a hard time convincing the judge of this. In most traffic courts, it's just rapid fire "gimme the money!" The judge is often very curt, and he doesn't even pretend to pay attention. He's just biding his time until you finally take a breath, so he can pronounce you guilty and tell you to pay the fine. It's a racket.

The City of Chicago sent me a traffic ticket that was 13 years old. I am not joking. That was three cars ago. When I called to complain about getting such an old fine that seemed to come out of nowhere, they said the computer just recovered the records. You see? They have no shame. It's just a source of money for them.

One thing you can do to cast doubt on the police is to get a weather report from that day. You can find this online.

If the cop does not show in court 99.99% you have won. As far as the radar gun case, that is not a good way to go. Everyone I know have lost. Just remember the Judge was probably a cop at one time too. It is most likly he is going to believe him. So if you want to fight it yourself, you need to be prepared for everything, for a fighting chance. As for the videotape I don't know if you have it or the officer. It would be in your best interest to get the official weather for that day. Find your local TV station and get the report. As I stated, be prepared. Whenever you get a ticket and fight it theirs always a %80 chance you will win. If the tape you have is not the officer's, get a copy of it. ---- Plead not guilty. NEVER PLEAD GUILTY, explain your case. Last but not least, go to this site and hopefully it can help. The second site is good to read as well (as for buying anything, I don't know)

you dont have the right to see my radar gun buddy. the fact that the ticket says it was raining means little. your not gonna get it thrown out for that. mayne you should slow down and you wont get pulled over at all. if you in fact were going that fast over the limit, we dont need the radar to tell us that. we get training to approximate if one is speeding or not.

Boss is right, at a minimum they will probably try to get you to plea it down to something. They want you to be a good doobie and just mail in the fine and when you don't you become an annoyance.

True story: A flatfoot once told me that cities lose money on traffic tickets. He must have thought I was one of his idiot buddies.

not paying a speeding ticket from 4 years ago will get you warrant and you will not get that thrown out. have fun dealing with your stupidity why you thought not paying a ticket will make it go away
