From questions I've asked previously, many have answered saying "How can you believe in Jesus but not in his word?" It's simple. I believe Jesus died for my sins. Yes. But I don't believe the Bible is entirely accurate so therefore, I don't read it. Not to mention, I find it jibberish and not to mention, boring. I've read it, and it's worse than a history book. My opinion of course. Why do people think it's impossible for me to believe in Jesus but not his supposed word? I mean seriously. Do you think I'll be denied heaven because I don't believe in the Bible entirely? I've accepted Jesus, I believe in God and I'd rather die than deny him. I seriously don't think I'll be denied heaven. I wish people would be more open minded.
This is purely curiosity and oberservation. And I"m fully aware that not everyone thinks the same as I do. :)

I said I don't believe PARTS of the Bible are accurate. Many parts have been edited and changed through out thousands of years. Belief in Jesus is blind faith on my part.

*blows hair out of her face* Picky picky, people. The reason why I don't believe all parts is because some parts (the judgmental parts regarding gays and what not), just don't seem right. Who would want to believe in God if he sent innocent gay people to hell just because they slept with the same sex? Seriously think about it. I know many Gays who believe in God.

The interesting question one might ask is how any of us know anything about this person Jesus Christ? Answer: Eyewitness testimony as recorded in the accepted faith tradition of Christianity, ie. the Bible. The only way any of us come to a saving knowledge of Jesus is because we believe the record of Jesus in the Bible is true. Therefore, the Bible is an essential component of Christianity. The next question we have to ask is does the Bible tell us more than just Jesus is the Son of God? The evidence is that the Bible does tell us much more. In response to your position concerning salvation, historically, most people in Christianity did not have either access or the education to be in the Bible. Thus, I don't think that it is absolutely necessary to read the Bible daily for salvation. I do think, however, it is profitable for our growth as Christians, and necessary for us to grow. If you don't like reading the Bible alone, consider a group study where you can share ideas to make it more relevant to your situation.

A lot of people enjoy passing judgement on my own spiritual path because we have not ONE SPECIFIC tome or book that provides us with GUIDELINES for our faith. To be honest there are some that walk a similar path as I that do not even do so in a spiritual manner, and that if fine by me. I am a very spiritual person and I love to learn as much as I can about the many different religions... but I don't need a Book to tell me right from wrong, or what is real or not... that is why Creator gave me a brain and instincts as well.
My personal opinion on the Bible and Koran and Torah and other books like those are that our Creator... ALLOWED... these books to be created not because he/she literally TOLD someone what to put within them... but instead because these works are, each in their own rights, an excellent GUIDE LINE on how some things should and should not be done.
However, a basic truth is that man, MAN is not INFALLABLE and as such it is the nature of man to make mistakes... mistakes in copying, mistakes in translations, mistakes in character... meaning that there is a slim possiblity that someone throughout the history of these books and their many translations could have 'did the best they believed they could do, and got it the closest to the original meaning as possible, under the circumstances' and felt that was good enough!
I am in some Christian groups and some Jewish groups and many other RELIGIOUS groups online... and I LEARN from all of them.
Just the other day I learned that the term Jesus, was not an actual translated word, becuase there apparently was
no letter "J" in Hebrew, Greek, Latin not even in English until after 1630. Does this matter? NOT if you look at the Bible and other works and wonderful guides... not as something written in stone.
I do not call myself a Christian, but I believe in Jesus, that he was a real man that lived and died and in between tried to teach goodness!
I guess personally I see no problem with you believing in Jesus and not the Bible. There are many inconsistancies in the Bible that if looked at it as cast in stone... really tarnishes the book... but when over looked, the Bible and others like it are amainzing learning tools, wonderful guide post!
Just my penny's worth:)
Warm Blessings

Lord, I thank You that this person trusts You as their personal savior and Lord. I thank You that she can share her faith online like this. I pray she would pray for those who disagree with her believes and are not open-minded. I also pray Lord, that You would give her a passion to read Your Word because it speaks of the Jesus she loves. I pray she would be willing to die for what she believes, and die for the Bible even the parts that don't make sense or don't seem accurate. I pray You would reveal to her how some things don't make sense right away, and that no one will ever understand why the Bible says everything that it does. Give her wisdom and understanding and help her to keep walking with You. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

My question is, how do you know which parts are wrong and which parts are right? What if your intuition is wrong and the way to heaven is not through Jesus dying for your sins, but rather through good works (which is one of the ways mentioned in the New Testament). In fact, why does Jesus so often seem to intimate he isn't god? Sure, those parts could be wrong, but how do you know? What's the key to determining? Is it just "what sounds right?" Because, that is all too often wrong, you know?

Well, where did you get your information that Jesus died for your sins?
It was either the bible itself or from people who have read and believe the bible.
You say the bible is inaccurate and therefore you don't read it. Maybe the bit about Jesus is inaccurate too. I mean, how do you decide which bits are accurate enough to believe?

I admire that you believe in Jesus, but don't think the bible is valid for your beliefs. But what do you base your belief in Jesus on, if not the bible? I'm an Atheist.

It's not people you have to worry about. It's God. Belief in Jesus alone is not His plan of salvation. Simple.

Because when you believe part of it but not the rest, you are cherry-picking the beliefs you like. It is hypocritical and makes you look kinda silly.
