i think you all should go out and find someone of a different faith or no faith and give them a hug without trying to convert them. maybe even sit down and talk about your religions with each other without saying either one is best just saying how you as a human being believe what you believe.

I am in the US Air Force. Last year I did Iraqi Air Force training. I worked with 25-30 Iraqi Air Force people every day. Some were casual acquantances and some were more personal. I considered about 5-6 of these personal friends for life, even though I may never see those people again. They were all Muslims. I am a Christian. Our beliefs were never a problem. I strongly disapprove of the Islamic belief but I am smart enough and mature enough to not allow my difference of beliefs cloud a good friendship.

And yes we did have friendly discussions about our different beleifs.

I totally agree with you. I'm a Catholic, and I have Friends that are Jews, Lutherans, Budists, Hindus, etc. I don't care what a person's religion is. That kind of stuff doesn't matter to me. So if I had any reason to hug a muslim, I would.

This sounds great! I have wonderful Christian friends who have no problem hugging me when they see me. We get along very well.

To weweew w: You are entitled to your views regarding Islam. However, what is your point in mentioning that Qur'anic verse? Misinterpretion of Qur'anic verses gets many non-Muslims in trouble with Muslims and leads to greater misunderstanding. Many non-Muslims see what they want to see and read what they want to read in the Qur'an. That's very dangerous.

People can read and/or interpret the Bible in any way they see fit, and still not speak out against Islam.

I generally don't go out and hug random people. it's fairly creepy. but I have talked with people of other faiths about religion (so far a hindu, muslim, JW, sihk and buddhist). as for would I hug them, probably not. not hateful, just that's awkward

"thanks for the talk. hug time!"

I'd love to hug one of my Muslim sisters (I am Christian). I don't think I would feel comfortable hugging a man (who is not my brother, father or husband).

Christians all over the world are doing these things daily. Yes I would give them a hug if they would let me.

Sure -- I do it all the time. A number of my students are Muslims. And at the end of the semester, after our class end of term party, a lot of my students (they're college age or older) hug me and I cheerfully hug them back.

Why on earth wouldn't I?
