I think it's going to be very special if you three sing a song together for your mother. Likewise you can make similar tributes to absent friends and other members of the family. It's the fact of singing together and making a song dedication that makes it more memorable than singing songs about family reunion.
(I would have picked "We Are Family" as the best song for a family reunion, but it's not melodic enough and rather boring after you sing the chorus over and over again).
