i am doing a debate for it, and my stand is that the U.S should leave Iraq. i just wrote an opening statement, can you guys please check it or add something to it to make it a good opening statement? thank you!
"There are many compelling reasons for the United States to immediately withdraw troops from Iraq. That was a terrible mistake made by our administration without total knowledge of the facts and consequences of going to war in Iraq. As a result, many Americans troops and innocent civilians have died without any real reason or a good idea when the war will end."

No Good reason......Dude you have been watching to many michael moore movies. I think we should just drop a tactical nuke on the whole place including iran and that psycho dictator they call a president.....You sound like a person who would have called our troops coming home from Viet nam "baby killers" You are a bleeding heart liberal and you should be there when the nuke lands.....You make me sick...you probably also think that 911 was made up and we bombed our own people. It is people like you who think you can "talk" to the muslim extremists this will never work. These people hate everything the US stands for including your freedom to get an education.

OK one thing in an opening statement keep it simple, don't go off on tangents and never go off with personal feelings. A debate is a discussion of the topic, it merits or demerits. First sentence: There are many compelling reasons for the United States to withdraw militarily from Iraq. One is that there has been a clear cut set of goals after the initial fighting had ceased. There is also the argument that order should have been brought to the country immediately there by possibly avoiding a civil war.

OK something along those lines and then build out from there from questions.

The US is now indebted to China, Saudi Arabia and Russia because of the ballooning expenses in the Iraq war. Troop withdrawal is the only solution so that the government will concentrate on the economy and save money by no longer indulging in wars.

If you wanna piss off alot of veterans and live in a imaginary world where violence isnt needed to attain freedom and stabalization; go ahead good statment. Truth of the matter is nothing worth it is easy. Stabalizing the middle east and doing whatever what we can to try and stop terrorism is worth it. You cant change a entire culture around in a few years it takes a long time. But id rather much fight these radicals now to stabalize that hell hole than have my kids one day do it. I dont expect you to understand anything that I just wrote but....what we went in there doesnt matter anymore we started this mess and we should finish it till its done not half a$$....if we leave with out finishing our mission it will only make things worse.
