Did your school even offer a course on Biology? Was everything about Evolution omitted?

Or were you one of those who just never bothered to learn Biology?

Has everything you've learned about Evolution come out of these creationist organizations? Just what independant study have to done on the topic?

RAE: 30 year old quotes from a confirmed evolutionist like Gould? That's just sad.

It's possible to regurgitate answers on high school and some college exams without understanding what you are saying.

Anyone honestly looking into the reasons scientists accept evolution will be convinced. Heck, just knowing what a Hox gene is would be enough to convince anyone who isn't intentionally dense.

Nope. I was pretty good with genetics. In a previous question, I stated that I was a C student in biology and chemistry. I think if I had actually studied, and showed up to class a bit more often, I might have done better.

And yes, my school did offer biology, chemistry, physics, and astronomy. I went to a high school that had International Baccalaureate courses. You know, college courses? Because I was in the IB program, I already had college credits by the time I dropped out of school.

I did pretty well in the intro to physics as well, by the way. And yes, I did study evolution. When I was in school, I always read the entire textbook by the time school had been in session for two weeks.

I've also read The Origin of Species two times. I'm now reading it for the third time.

I'm not a science person though. History and literature are more my thing. I'm not too hot on mathematics, either. I hated algebra, but geometry was fascinating.

Um, I am an evolutionist and don't particularly follow Christianity (other than ethically, where people tell me I lead a "Christian-style" life), but I must have missed class the day that they taught manure slinging in Biology class.

A vigorous and well thought out debate is a good thing, but mocking the views of others that you disagree with simply highlights your own ignorance.

You have a belief. I have a belief. Respect the beliefs of others, even if you don't agree with them.

It is amazing to me that those who push evolution theory so vehemently are so ignorant about what most evolutionary scientists have said about the fossil record....

Even Charles Darwin was honest when he confesses in 'Origin of Species'; " But as by THIS THEORY innumerable transitional forms must have existed, why do we NOT find them embedded in countless numbers in the crust of the earth?" -Charles Darwin

To the above fact, even the most world renown (evolutionary) biologists agree...." New species almost always appear suddenly in the fossil record with NO intermediate links to ancestors in older rocks in the same region. The fossil record with its abrupt transitions OFFERS NO SUPPORT for gradual change". - Stephen J. Gould (Natural History , June, 1977, p.22)

"The extreme rarity (of transitional forms) in the fossil record persists as the 'trade secret' of palentology. The evolutionary tree (diagarms) that adorn our textbooks is.....NOT the evidence of fossils". - Stephen Gould (Natural History, 1977, vol.86, p.13)

The thing to remember is that evolution is still just a theory - a hypothesis, a speculation, an unproven assumption, and certainly is NOT supported by the fossil record.

According to Scripture NOTHING evolved but everything was created "AFTER THEIR KIND"....which is directly consistent with the fossil record.

"From the beginning of the Creation God made them male and female..."-- Jesus (Mk. 10:6)
Scripture says God SPOKE all things into existence with His Word:
" By the Word of the Lord were the heavens created, and all the host of them by the breath of His mouth.... For HE SPAKE AND IT WAS DONE; HE COMMANDED AND IT STOOD FAST". (psalm 33:6-9)

I aced biology in high school and college, thanks.

(BTW - I'm a creationists that's open to the possibility of God using evolution as a tool).

Evolution is a basic theory taught in science. Regardless of learning it or not, if it doesn't make sense and it's not full proof, why act like its' the end all to everything? Would you re-write this question and address it to people who belived other things, like the BIG BANG theory, or is your issue just with folks that believe in a God?

If I wasn't a Christian I would still reject evolution. I believe firmly in adaptation and that species were created to adapt, camouflage etc., but I don't believe that they evolved from one species to another. I believe individual species were created and died out, through extinction.

Went to public high school. Got an A in Biology, thanks.

And I used to be an atheist and a believer in evolution, too. Then I found out it has more holes in it than my granny's knickers.

In their defense I went to Government school and they didn't teach me anything worth a damn.

Biology doesn't teach that.
