Do you think pagans or Wiccans do? Even though we tell you we don't, and that Satan is part of Christianity?

We believe you when you say you don't believe in the Goddess....

Thank you!
I've heard the argument too many times from christians that we worship Satan, we just don't know it yet. But, none of them have EVER studied the history of Satan, and how the jewish people (from whom they claim to get their god) have viewed him. They don't see him (never have) as a fallen angel that is god's enemy. They seem as being in god's employ.
The only ones who believe in satan as an evil being are christians. If they actually studied history and judaism, I wonder if they'd still believe what they do.
Regardless, we do not believe in Satan nor do we worship Satan.
And, just because most of us follow an earth-based religion does not mean that we follow "the god of this world"- that is in reference to a political system, not the earth itself... idiocy abounds around here at times.

It's amazing the ignorance that I've seen here. I'm sorry if I seem to directly hurt anyone here, but here are the facts:

Not all witches believe in a duality of God / Goddess. Talk to a Dianic sometime.

NO witches believe in Satan. Wiccans believe the Christian myth to be a patriarchal religion descended from Egyptian myth. The story of the resurrected god, born of a virgin is much older than Christianity or Judaism.

Satan is a Christian entitity. Without Christianity, there is no Satan.

Paganism predates Christianity by many many centuries. The oldest archaeological evidence for religion points to Paganism and Goddess figures. If some deity wished for his or her creation to worship him or her, why did not the God of the Bible predate Paganism? Why do we not find Judaic relics rather than Pagan ones as the earliest evidence of religion?

The Judeo-Christian-Islam religions are quite new. If Paganism is older than Christianity, and if Paganism is of the devil, then that would indicate that Satan held sway over the Earth before the Christian God did.

No matter how you look at it, it doesn't make sense to say that Paganism is of the devil.

The Wiccans I know worship nature spirits and the Great Mother and the Green Man(known by many names) , the consort of the Great Mother and they stongly mantain that they only worship the principles of goodness and life . Most wiccans i know see Satan as a Judeo-Christian-Islamic concept. Some Wiccans I know are monotheists. Many are pantheists. Some Wiccans see the god and goddess titles as personifications of nature forces. There is no one Wiccan theology to my knowledge.

What? Of course not. I have plenty of Pagan friends, some of whom self-identify as witches, and they chose their belief system of their own free will. They chose their path after intensive research and study, just like the rest of us. And this isn't the Middle Ages; of course, I don't believe that children get possessed by demons. Then again, I don't live in Nigeria, and can't account for their culture or beliefs. Edit: Yes, there is an extremist fringe in the U.S. that goes around performing exorcisms (Google "Bob Larson" sometime), but that's definitely a minority element. To suggest that mainstream Christians uphold these beliefs is like saying that all Christians are snake handlers, or abortion clinic bombers. Just because a minority group holds a certain set of beliefs doesn't make those beliefs acceptable to the majority. Then again, I would agree that even one death due to religious extremism is one death too many. Alas, the death toll keeps climbing. There is fear, stupidity and superstition still present in the world today, and unfortunately, it can be found within my own religion as much as anyone else's.

No, I don't believe that witches believe in Satan. As a matter of fact, I KNOW witches don't believe in Satan, because I was Wiccan for almost six years.

I have never thought that witches believe in Satan. I read up on Wicca a few years ago out of curiosity and liked how peaceful it seemed.

Most Wiccans and pagans that I have read about do not believe in Satan. However, he certainly believes and is counting on you to spread your word. It helps him tremendously. The Bible says, If you are not for Him (God), then you are against Him. So, if you are not for God, then you are for Satan whether you believe in him or not.

I am a Christian. If you say you don't believe in the devil then I believe you. There is no reason why I shouldn't. Besides, I know way more about my religion than I do about yours, so I really would have no other logical choice than to believe you.

No they don't. He is perceived as a much older nature spirit akin to Pan. In fact that is why there descriptions match, horns, hooves, etc.
Because the church used Pans description for the Devil to help convert pagans.

Why Christian believe that dribble is beyond me. They give their Satan more power, energy, and thought than we would even think about doing.
