Lucifer rejected the Father’s plan for the salvation of the human race and sought to substitute his own plan.

Not prevailing, he, with one third of the hosts of heaven, was cast down, and … became Satan … the father of all lies, to deceive and to blind men, and to lead them captive at his will.

Edit: Johhno's right

Satan was an Angel. He didn't just leave, he was cast out of Heaven for trying to overthrow God and gain his power. 1/3 of the Angels at that time followed Satan into Hell, because they worshiped Him instead of God. Their lust for power and their quest for vengeance became their undoing as they were transformed into a image of evil. Those Angels of Light became Angels of Darkness. This came to pass long before God created the world.

Peace be with you

My boyfriend and I were talking about that just the other day. That's a lot of Angels to be pissed off. Something wasn't going right if 1/3 of something that supposudly has no free will tells god they want things to change.

They were angry when God said that mankind was his greatest creation and the angles should bow down to him.
They were the first born of creation and immortal so many felt god was being unfair.
Truly pride comes before the fall.

I believe that they believed Satans lie that they were "gods" themselves & that they had no need for God...they could do everything "themselves" (self) sorta sounds like what alot of God's creation believes. huh? there will be eternal consequences either way.....

God gives us all free will. Look at Judas how he betrayed Jesus. And He knows who are His children. That's also good for knowing a true Christian.....Scripture says: You'll know them by their fruit.
