I am looking for ideas on when I leave my reception. I was going to have a night wedding so when we left our reception I wanted our guests to hold sparklers. But now my wedding is going to be during the day due to the expenses. Any different ideas that we could do??? besides bubbles, confetti and rice? Thank you so much!!!

I don't want to use bubbles, confetti, or bird seed. I want something different.

I don't know how crafty you are, but you could make something similar to that thing they used to have called 'Ribbon Dancer'. Just use some kind of stick and cover it and attach ribbons in your colors to the ends. When you come out everyone could wave them around and you could walk through them.
Also, the guests could take them as a souvenier.

No one throws rice anymore, it is so bad for birds; I thought everyone knew. And confetti? *tsk tsk*

The only reason I'm having an evening wedding is so I can have sparklers... so I haven't really thought of other things to use. I might have little bells for wedding favors so maybe that. Or you can supposedly get "rejected" rose petals for cheap from a florist. I guess if you wanted to change out of your wedding gown beforehand, you could do silly string, freshly cut green grass or leaves (but watch for grass stains ... or dog poop), or water sprayguns.

Edit: I just thought of another idea... I have no idea how it would work out in real life, but it looks good in my head. You could get a very large piece of white fabric and have your guests stand in two lines (with the tallest people more or less evenly spread) then have everyone who can reach it hold the fabric overheaad and make it billow over everyone else's head - including both you and your husband's head as you walk through the middle of the two columns of people.

I'm doing sparklers at my wedding. I can't wait. But anyways. I know that balloons are somewhat tacky and are not realy supposed to be used in weddings. Or at least I don't think so. But you could buy balloons in your wedding colors and put a little note in it, like a poem or something saying you just got married and to please send this card to your address and write your name an where you are from. And then if you get any back you will be able to find out how far your balloons went and then you could put all the little cards in a scrapbook. If you like balloons I think it would be cute. But you should still put just like nonhelium balloons all over the ground ans stuff too. I think the picture would come out phenomenal.

Rose petals. It's organic and won't create problems at the site.

Bubbles create a slick surface and some places wno't allow them.

Ditto rice - and it's hard to clean up.

Confetti is also difficult to clean up and can cause environmental problems.

Rose petals. You can even order them from Costco if you are so inclined.

Rice is bad for the birds I hear. Confetti is a pain to clean up. Bubbles float away too fast.

My advice...just leave. Do you really want people throwing stuff at you anyway?

My husband and I have a small business where we release doves at weddings. Very nice! and beautiful. It symbolizes the unity of the bride and groom As the doves mate for life as the couple promise to do also.

Thank goodness you ix-nayed the sparklers. Those sparks can destroy a wedding dress.

How about a butterfly release?

Rose petals?

I've been to alot of weddings where they have those little paper boxes and each person opens one and releases the butterfly inside. Its looks really beautiful and is wonderful to think that there is something living out in the wild that was there on your wedding day.

My brother and sister in law left to fireworks. But that was at night so I'm not sure how well that would work in the middle of the day. It was a professional firework show not us lol.
