I have no idea. Some years ago, when they transmitted the shooting down of the planes of "Hermanos al Rescate" by the comunists in Cuba, they transmitted the veeery obscene, indecent words that the gunner said.
Besides, I have heard quite a few times that same word on TV without shame. It is a word that means testicles, but with a very indecent expression. If they allow that, then nothing is forbidden
To Summer: I do have heard the word a sshole on TV, if that is the one you mean. By the way, it is a rsehole the correct word. I saw it in the dictionary

Anymore, there aren't any words that are taboo to say on television. If you tune into F/X (which is cable TV), they say every word under the sun. I've heard everything on TV.

Now, on basic cable, the only word that I haven't heard is f**k or any of its variations.

Words that I haven't heard on basic cable TV:
f**k
N****r
a**hole

those are the only words I haven't heard on TV... and I watch A LOT of TV.

According to what I know this are the following: sex, excrement, homosexuality, incest, increasingly bigotry, racial/ethnic hatred, and prejudice.

The use of certain profanities at certain times, especially in a public setting or during a solemn occasion, may often be considered inappropriate or in bad taste, and may be offensive to a greater or lesser extent, depending on the context.
