Simple. People don't like seeing others do better than them "example Robert w" Look 2 insertions down. If you feel that your undergrad is keeping you from where you want to be. Solution get the MBA. I have considered after my undergrad in Health Care Management continuing to get my MBA. GO FOR IT Worry about you not other people. 30 yrs old is not very old at all. People that change the world are the people that act today! You can only benefit from your education.

They are discouraging you because they are either jealous or because they think you should get more experience first.
First, let's solve the experience issue... Find a job. Any job. Once you get into that job, ask a lot of questions without be a hassle. Ask questions that will help you understand how the whole company runs. Even if it doesn't pay well, a couple years of experience will do you well.
Second... they might be jealous. However, if you are always going to let your decisions in life be driven by those whom are negative around you, you are likely going to not succeed at the levels you hope regardless of an MBA or not.

Don't listen to your friends. Get the MBA. It's going to help you get your foot in the corporate world. I did essentially the same thing. I was in the medical field as an Occupational Therapist and wanted OUT. I went back for my MBA in 01 finished in 03 and landed a job for a Fortune 500 Company. Go for it!!!!

It's because they probably know you best, and it sounds like you're using that as an excuse to stay in school!
If you're smart enough to continue on for your MBA, you shouldn't be having any problems "breaking in" to the corporate/ business world.
Did you sign up for your college's internship program, to get your foot in the door? Have you been doing any entry level work already? Even just the mail room if that's all they have?
An MBA is not going to give you one ounce more credibility than you already have, or don't have, for lack of an aggressive willingness to get to work.
Just showing up at interviews with your degree isn't enough. You have to show them that you have serious drive.
But if you're already ready to give up and just go back to school some more, it sounds like you think you're entitled to a great job, and maybe getting that MBA will REALLY make you entitled to it. It won't. Going back for the MBA will not impress anyone, and at age 32, still trying to land that first job, it will actually work against you. You'll be overqualified for entry level jobs (too high a degree, doesn't fit their pay scale, causes interoffice political problems) and underqualified for jobs needing an MBA (no experience).
Get some books on how to do well at interviews and what they look for. Talk to your career counselor at the college you graduated from -- it's OK, you're still allowed. Ask to sign up for their corporate internship program. They will even help you with your interview skills.

regardless of the MBA, potential employers will be pressuring you on why you are getting a BA degree so late... i think the best way to go is to decide what kind of a job you want to do and understand if an MBA is required for such a job. perhaps another master's degree may be more beneficial for you, such as an M.S. in Finance?

candid advice?
read '48 days to work you love' apply it.
you sound like too many applicants . a degree of no real value with no real world skills (visit starbuck to see the results). sorry.
now you want to enter into the world of debtors (school loans) in the quest of a high paying J.O.B..
read ' what colour is your parachute' first.
find out what you want to be / do when you grow up. Cause it isn't what u'll be doing when you retire. Figure on 3-5 career changes b4 you're 70.
oh we buy MBA holders at a dime a dozen.
what you have on the paper is meaningless, your worth is totally dependant on what you - Produce of value in the market.

You're 30, right? In ten years you're going to be 40, whether or not you get that MBA.
you're just finishing a liberal arts degree? So you're used to studying. You have the momentum, don't stop now!
Good luck.
