Yes. I am a practicing Christian and firm believer in evolution. As far as I am concerned evolution is the means whereby God has created life. God is not a magician. He is an all powerful being who, with a complete understanding of science, goes about creation with science as his tool. This in no way makes God less divine or intelligent. It simply means he is logical and that the evidence we see of universal processes are also evidence of God.

I really don't see why not. Of course they would have to work through Genesis. Actually, Most Catholics now a days do believe in evolution. The pope said it was OK. Also many of then look at it as god started the process and evolution took it on from there. After all, Evolution hasn't answered the how life began part.

Well, if you're talking about the only true living God which is the God of the Bible, then no. The Bible clearly states that God created the heavens and the earth and everything that abides in them. Evolution leaves God out of the picture. I honestly believe that it takes a lot more faith to believe that everything we see was created out microscopic bacteria, and not only that, but it took millions of years to evolutionize. Well, that really is a very creative theory, but just that, a theory! The greatest proof against evolution is "Design" When we see the design in the universe, and even in our own bodies we should realize that there's a designer. Don't be led astray by the theory of evolution. If you believe in God, then you should that he's almighty and powerful and able to create just as the Bible tells he created everything we see.

Darwin did. I've given this a great deal of thought and come up with a unifying theory:
Given God exists:
God eventually created EVERYTHING
But he started small with sub-atomic particles created out of pure energy.
Then atoms
Then elements
Then matter
Then the material multiverse
God had no real way to measure time so this could have all taken an infinite amount.
Once there was something, time really began.
There was a moment when the cosmos came into existence.
Before that there was nothing to have a duration so no real time
After there was all of eternity stretching out but time was passing after the first creation.
Using the matter, energy, space and time God created amino acids.
Combining amino acids god made one celled organisms and gave them rudimentary sentience.
From there one celled organisms combined for better survival prospects and eventual through millions of years of trail and error evolved sapience and started asking questions like "what can we eat" and eventually "where shall we have lunch"
Maybe God watches the eons unfold or might have gone on to more esoteric pursuits.
Notice I never assigned a gender to God?

Yes as a matter of fact the Catholic church believes in evolution...they believe God kept improving on his work over time to get to where we are today. They know that the Earth wasn't made in 7 days and they believe 7 days is really pointing out 7 long periods of time.

I think it is called intellectual design.

IN ADDITION TO THE 7 DAYS THING...

Remember it was written at around the time of the Babylonian Empire...there was NO standard for a day back then...the standard for day that we have has been started by the Greeks, therefore the day that they used and the day we use can be 2 completely different things.

Since evolution happens, if you believe in God, you have to believe God made evolution happen.

Evolution in the sense that man came out of monkey is bullshit. Evolution in the sense that gradually better offspring came out, with more sophisitication is acceptable. We believe that God is the Creator, not a magician with a magic wand. He must have created according to His methods and standards. No one was there to record those events. But science is gradually coming to terms with it. Science is making a discovery of the reverse engineering method and getting to know how things started. But in the process, many confounding principles are afloat. Ultimately, in God's own time, we will know how everything was created and how far they will exist.

Yes! A very good point there. Maybe evolution is God still creating over millions of years.

As salaamu a'aliakym wabaraktu. Bismillah ir-Rahman ir-Rahim, believing in God (YHWH, Allah, the Trinity, etc.) is completely compatable with Darwin's theroy of eveolution as this theroy seems to help mortals understand how Allah, Subhanna wa Ta'ala created all things and we are only able to understand that which Allah Subhanna wa Ta'ala wills us to be able to understand. The same would hold true for someone who follows the Hebrew scriptuures or the Christian version of the same. The only persons who seem to have a problem with this are those who want to put a limit on God, saying that because they understand it a certain way then God must be limited to their understanding. Of course, Allah, Subhanna wa Ta'ala has no limits and has power over all things. We are the ones with limits.
Ma'a salaam.

Yes, in fact, most people who believe in God also accept the theory of evolution. Denial of evolution is mostly unique to Evangelicals and Muslims.
