Like everyone says: it depends on where you get it & how big it is. I would try something tiny to see if you can handle it. How about a cute little star on your hip? The best part of the tattoo process is the high you get when it's over. The worst thing is living with it for the rest of your life. I have 4 tats - 2 of which I got removed by laser - which is by far 100X worse pain than the tattooing process itself. Please make sure you love it and can live with it. As we get older our tastes change.

Honestly it depends on how much pain you can take, I can handle needles and it didn't really hurt me. My sister on the other hand is scared of needles and she has a big tattoo on her lower back and it didn't hurt her at all. Take a friend and hold their hand. Good luck :-)

I have a bit of a needle phobia too - the worst part of having my son was getting the iv put in. I'll take a tattoo any day over the nurse who tried over and over to get that iv in my arm and couldn't so she then tried over and over to to get it into the top of my hand.....

its not the same as having blood drawn or getting a shot a tattoo only goes thought the first 3 layer of skin you have 7 layers of skin . stay away from places that tickle or don't have alot of meat.

if you will be deterred by the pain then don't get one. yes, tattoos hurt. but obviously there are those of us who feel that the pain is part of the price to pay for a tattoo. when you really want a tattoo you 'll get it despite the pain.

Yes it hurts...but it's bearable. I have a needle phobia and I got one....if you really want the tattoo...you'll be able to handle it.
