I'd like to know so that when I meet guys I can check their background before I get involved with them.

Nowadays you dont know who you are dealing with. Yrs ago I dealt with a guy who I thought had a clean record & no trouble with the law. He not only turned out to be the biggest pothead on the planet, he also turned out to be someone who had a criminal record for petty larceny AND child abuse. A 5-yr old child was beaten horribly from his torso down & the authorities told me the pictures of the child's abused body were so bad that they advised me against looking at the pictures. How I found all of this out is because the "authorities" came to MY HOUSE looking for him out of the blue one day & told me he had OUTSTANDING WARRANTS.

I also know of a woman who was married to a guy for almost 14 yrs, only to find out her husband was wanted in some states for murder.

Can someone tell me if there are legal ways or legitimate sites to find out a person's criminal background??

Absolutely!

You can log on to your state and county court records and search by name and see arrest etc.

Also you can pay for a background check on someone and get detailed information. The best part, it's all legal!

Good luck!!

Usually, such records are a matter of public record. On occasion, the courts will seal a person's history of dealings with that court. At the same time, nobody's going to come to you and say "here's this guy's arrest record" or "he has no arrest record". You're considered free to seek that info, but will have to pay someone to research the data for you - that's why we have licensed private detectives.
I'm sorry you got burned once. I know, some few have been burned that way twice. However, it really is quite rare, and it'd be awfully expensive to check out every single guy who might possibly feed you a line. That's why us old geezers always tell the young girls to take it slow in any new relationship. If the guy is good material for a long-term relationship, he'll wait. And learn to trust your instincts: if something seems amiss, it probably is.

Only the people who you are asking about can authorize the release of their records by the state police, and then it has to be in writing!

Either get your prospective spouse to sign a release or not. Most states only go back so far, like 7 years!

I hate people who prey on others, but you still have to go by the rules.

Most, what we call, Lazy Pedophiles, will marry a woman who has children as they have ready assess to victims!

Their records are usually on-line in every state. Most who register as sexual offenders are rapist, not pedophiles!

Go to the site below and pay $19.95, you'll get all the public record info you need from all over the US. I have used them several times and it works real good.

it is a public information. However i have an easier way for you. who is a criminal? some one who got caught and couldn't afford a good lawyer. everybody has broken the law but most of them didn't get caught or they were well off and got a good lawyer. only white color crime pays. its land of opportunity for white color criminals! most likely they are pro-war too. the muddier the river gets they catch more fishes!!
