and right now it has nothing on it; no pictures nothing. Does anyone have any decorating tips for such a big wall? It runs along my living room and dining room. Right now it feels very overwhelming!

You have so many options. You can treat a long wall like a gallery. Paint it a color you love that will work in both rooms. Then take some favorite photos and frame them all the same. You may want to use a large frame considering the size of your wall. Check Costco if you have a membership. They have some nice matted frames that aren't all that expensive. Then hang the frames along the wall equidistant and at the same height.
You can cover canvas with a fabric you love. If you use coordinating fabrics you can hang several in a grouping. Just pull the fabric around the canvas and staple it from the back.
You can hang shelves you like and merchandise them with items you love or use it as a place to display a collection.
I'm a bit jealous. My house has so many windows it's like swiss cheese. I've run out of room to display my paintings!
Check out this website (Better Homes and Gardens). They usually have good ideas and lots of pictures.

You could put a piece of furniture between the two "room" to better define them, such as a hutch or curio cabinet. In any case, I suggest hanging an oversized mirror in the dining room side and a collection of pictures on the living room side. Go to www.allposters.com and buy 3 or 5 large posters that are related to each other and are the exact same size. Hang them as a collection and it will look awesome.

Pick a few words from this list and stencil them onto the wall- you don't even have to order them through this site, this is just for word ideas:

Or, one time I saw on Trading Spaces this cool art project. They took an old distressed door with panels and attached copies of favorite family photos, then hung it horizontal on the wall. It looked really cool and could break up a big wall.

Hope this helps :)

1] make a gallery - art, family photos
2] paint a garden - flower or vegetable, or a forest
3] mural of your choice
4] family growing wall - divide into space for each kid, outline each one and color it in red. Next year do outline again, in yellow, and color to the red part, etc., etc. Make sure you label each silhouette.
5] paint a big design - if living room is mostly green, and dining room is mostly blue, make a diagonal slice form bottom left to top right, color each half the different colors.
