You are 13, you probably don't need to really lose weight at this point in your life, but if you want to be a little healthier, you could change your eating habits. Try to avoid soda all together, cut down on the drinks that are loaded with sugar (like sweet tea, lemonade, or other fruit juices) and drink a lot of water. Try to cut out fast food as much as possible and also cut down on chips, dips, microwavable food, and candy. I don't recommend going to the gym at your age, but going out and running or bicycling in addition to your sports would help you too. Just don't over do it :)

Your question doesn't make sense. You acknowledge that you are NOT overweight yet you WANT to lose weight? WHY? If you play a lot of sports then you probably have a lot of muscle. Muscle weighs more than fat. You are probably doing more damage to yourself mentally & emotionally by stressing about this when there is really no issue here. Honey, life is hard enough without having to deal with imaginary problems. Don't believe the crap that society throws at you about the "ideal" weight for someone your age. I'm sure you are much healthier than 99% of the twigs walking around today starving themselves & screwing up their metabolism for life. Just enjoy being a healthy, normal kid. God bless you sweetie!

If you play alot of sports at 13 you should already be in good shape. But if you want to lose weight do it the right way.
1. you want to build a support system, by telling your friends and family your decision.
2. not all advice is good advice, be smart about your decision making.
3. read up on your diet of choice, research and get statistics about the average weight lose for that diet.
4. Make sure that you drink plenty of fluids.
5. the best diet is through exercise and healthy eating habits. walk at least 3 days a week for 45 minutes at a nice pace. Eat less amounts, less grease and little starch. Stay off the sugar.
6. make sure you get a check up first from your health care provider.
Good Luck

find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

hon, i'm pretty positive you don't need to lose weight. considering that you're young and you play plenty of sports, you're probably mostly muscle. Muscle weighs more than fat. If, on the other hand, you just want to start eating healthier, etc., that's a great thing for anyone to do. Just take it one step at a time and be conscious of what you eat. :)

an ez starting place: what do you eat?
try to keep notes for a week, & i bet you will surprise yourself.
try not to mix high-sugar drinks/foods/desserts w/pasta or breads (regular white flour kinds).
its kind of obvious but, if you eat more than you can 'burn' & fuel your sports- those xtra unused food calories get stored for future energy.
the only problem is, most of us eat way more on a day-to-day basis than we need, & we end up always having surplus.
also look @fat content for the foods you eat, you will find you can easily lose 10-15lbs just from changing eating habits; give yourself a consistent month from start of changes.
the rest depends on specific details/routines in your life & whether you are getting the right kind/amount of exercise; i.e. you may have an unknown thyroid condition etc. etc.
