The people, for the most part, would do whatever they were told to do by the government. The government would declare martial law and begin quarantines and forced medicating. Possibly even euthanizing large segments of the population. We would have a never ending war on the plague along with all the other wars that are meant to control people. Have any of you ever seen the movie The Stand by Stephen King? Or read the book? It might even be the government that unleashes the plague on us.

Not that any of us are experts or anything. But I think the world would have a problem if we were hit with some fast spreading disease that resulted in massive deaths. Our country though not perfect in any way, does impact a lot of other countries. First the World Heath Organization would get involved. They have established processes for this type of event. Second the goverment would call out for any medication or cures and those would be administered first to the heathcare providers then to police enforcement then to leaders and then fairly to the population. Of course we'd experience death. The Airports would probably stop flying to cities that are quarantined to stop further spread and protect the population that hasn't inherited the disease. part of the World Health Organizations plan is probably to alert the rest of the world and to recommend precautionary actions for prevention. Like don't eat this, or get immunized or get a certain medication. Whatever is needed. I would be the economy would struggle if in quarantine, and then the other countries would feel a hit because ours would be weak. Hopefully the financial institutions have put in a safeguard in case the economy bombs. eventually those left would build themselves up again.

Depends on the disease. Right now there are plans for what to do in an event like that and organizations working to prevent a disease from entering the country or spreading once it does. There are prepardness tests to see how well the US can handle a situation like this.
However, the only way to know is when the disease hits. Like I said, it depends on the disease. If you mean plague as in bubonic plague then I think we can handle that pretty well. We have the medication and the knowledge to take care of the situation. Also, the sanitation in the US kind of prevents the disease from getting any real foothold.
Now, if you mean plague as in an epidemic of any fast spreading disease then it depends on how fast the disease takes hold of the victim, how easy is it to transmit, and what treatment is available for it. If something new sprung up then we would have problems. If something like a new form of flu popped up and really got going, we would have some difficulty containing it.

We will likely die. The wealthy can afford the medication needed to survive, and the poor, well, while paying for the aliens, the war, and all the other programs this country is in the hole for, likely Medicare and Medicaid will self destruct and go belly up, meaning those who depend on the taxpayers for their meds will die first, then the taxpayers. Simple. The politicians do not care as long as they can lie, cheat or steal their way into another term.

They will quarantine the pandemic tails areas (area surrounding local and international airports, as well as local transportation hubs). Then, will require everybody to limit their travels. If the plague agent remain more than a week in his host before manifesting some symptomes, then we are all doomed!! It must be much lower in order to keep hopes in controlling its spread. Then just wish for the best for the rest of the time... Also, I just warn everybody, if it happen don't go to your local hospital if you get some symptoms, as if you did not get it, you will surely get it going there... As they are very hospital equiped with barometric rooms that keep airborn agents on the ground... So our public health system will surely collapse pretty soon after it begins...

It would depend on what disease specifically, how it was being spread, whether or not it could be contained, etc.
But the government would be slow to respond, regardless - Katrina is a fine example.

The government will probably bring in useless medicine and vaccines poisoned with melomine from their friends in china while they hide in germ-free resorts in the Bahamas

our leaders would get the meds they needed to survive. illegals would get the free help. and the rest of America would be on their own. the poor blacks, white and other poor legal citizens would die. the rich and illegals would be taken care of. then slavery would start all over again.
