That is truely a difficult question. However, I think I would prefer the person of average intelligence. My reasoning is that this person would more than likely seek to over come any obsticle in the relationship. It would be natural for them to do so since they work so hard to apply themselves in other areas of their life. A person of average intelligence could still excite my intellectual side because they may be more willing to learn my interests and more willing to be open minded and absorbent of fresh knowledge. I have dated a highly intelligent woman before and I found her to be a bit dry and closed off. More academic than personable and emotional. I am currently single and find that many overly intelligent people (I work in Engineering) are dry, pompus, holier than thou, and have one prejudice or another. Those of say the blue collar variety are more open, warm, sociable, goal oriented (not materialistic seekers), and strive to be more of a person. I work for an oil company's manufacturing side, and thus one encounters the office type "educated" and the shop labor force that may be educated in another manner. I find most office people do not understand the importance of their, what they consider, laborers. That translates into their view and way of socializing. I started with a small company when I was about 20 working in the sun slaving like a poverty strickened outcast and through education and hard work got to my expertise and skill level that affords me my current position. I know the good heart of most of the workmen (work women) that drive a company's production of service or material product, and that of the administrative, office personel that seem to be educated and of high intelligence. It would seem the lesser intelligent are in the lower pay scale harder working job. Have you ever thought back how much it seems you were happier in your lower paid days when you had less? I think in the long run the lesser intelligent would be a better partner, friend, and interest over the overly intelligent. I am formally educated, I have an above average IQ, but I work hard because of where I started. The beautiful people so to speak are not often that way inside, and thus it translates into a weaker effort in personal relationships.

I hope that my insight has given you an answer you can appreciate. It is only a general observation and personal preference drawn of one example (the corporate environment), however, I think that is easily related to personal associations. How could you be bored with the one that seeks achievment based on the need to work for it? The one that accomplishes above average results because it comes easy due to their intelligence doesn't try, so they can often be more predictable in their actions, and less attentive to your sensitivities and needs.

I'm the latter, personally.

I've got an IQ of roughly 180, but I've always been more interested in doing just enough to slide bye, while also leading a fun, exciting life.

I'm a lot more interested in having a full, fun life than doing the necessary work, and making the effort to live up to my 'potential'.

I can handle the below average intelligence (as long as we're not talking about a complete ditzy moron). I want to be with someone I respect; I will always respect and appreciate someone who works hard and applies themselves regardless of intelligence level. On the otherside, I have no respect for someone who is content to slide through life and skate, I don't care how smart they are.

Someone said "the worst thing in the world is wasted talent".

I'm very driven and I know a lot of talented people who apply themselves and some who don't care to, or are afraid to.

People should always improve no matter how smart they are. I'm pretty smart but I'm always eager to learn new things. I want to be with someone who tries to excel to their fullest potential.

Hmm.... Tricky.....

What does "slightly" mean when we're talking about the below average girl? If she's below average intelligence, how often does she succeed in whatever she does, despite her drive and efforts?

I prefer smarter women, but if she doesn't apply herself, I probably wouldn't try to be in a relationship with her. Relationships are a two-person job. I don't want to do all the work myself. :P

Which one is hotter & sexier?

I'd go for the "slightly below average intelligence but worked hard to excel",
but i'd tell the intelligent one that until they get their *** in gear, they got no chance with me.

lol... sanbox & regerug are making their moves!

First one of course? Hardworking shows that even though he may start weak, he will end up better than the fullest potential who doesn't apply themselves fully in my opinion. Because the fullest potential might end up being a lazy bum and who wants that?
