You mean police. A term I am not familiar with though most have Juvenile services!
I am aware that many police depts have hired social workers who do child protection investigations. In Washington, DC and Pennsylvania, law enforcement investigated abuse for many years, until the found out it didn't work very well. They didn't hire social workers and their child protection, as far as services, were non-existent!
I know in Florida, some investigators, who are social workers, are hired by police departments. Perhaps it is positions like that of which you refer!
I would prefer that police depts know something about child abuse since most know little with the exception of major crimes. Though I think protective services, which in many states do not have a 24 hour response team, is thankful that the police are there to intervene in severe cases!
Kevw25. I don't think that is the term refered to as they are essentially non-existant in the US!
