I have been diagnosed with BPD but i dont agree with the mental health worker. After reading everything i can find out about it i agree i do have a few signs of this disorder but i disagree with alot of what im "meant" to be like.
Im 30, was abused as a child and didnt deal eith it..now its come back to bite me hard. Suffer severe panic attacks( at times), severe depression( at times) mood swings, flashbacks, flashes of anger but am not suicidal, nor do i self harm, there are just so many symptoms of so many "disorders" that i fit a few of.
I need to see a private psych..then attend support group in August..but i cant afford to see a psych so therefore cant get into the group and have not been given any medication to help at all.
Sometimes i have a great week, others i cant leave the house..can barely take my kids to school( yes i manage) and i dont have alot of support to turn to. Should i get a 2nd opinion?

I know this may be hard for you to understand, or even listen to...but there is a way to get over the past, and to move on...If you could ever find it in your heart, for forgiveness, of the people who abused you, through belief in Jehovah God, and Jesus Christ, I know that the pain in your heart would be removed...all the doctors in the world, won't be able to give you the peace in your heart, like forgiving the enemy will do for you...Forgive them, and when you do,...and love your enemies, and the Lord will take these heartbreaking memories from you...and then Live for Them, and you will find peace, like you have never known. The Lord knows what you need, and what you want, even before you ask HIm....and knows every hair on your head...forgive them, and move on, and suffer no more God bless you sweetie

You definately do not have full blown BPD. The symptoms you described are from post traumatic stress disorder. The anger is a trait of bpd. But everyone has certain traits of certain disorders. No one fits into one category perfectly. The mental health professional's job is to look at all your symptoms and decide what disorder they fit under the most.

BPD simply means you are dealing with a cluster of symptoms that "border" several other disorders, & therefore difficult to diagnose. I've suffered for years (unknowingly until recently) from this disorder, and I have "managed" without drugs &/or psychotherapy (they have no intentions of curing you, they just want your money!). I still have ups and downs, but I am able to recognize it now and deal with it appropriately. I would recommend checking out Amazon.com for self help books on this disorder, like The Angry Heart & many others. Also, eat whole foods, drink plenty of water, cut out the junk, sugar & soda, and try yoga/pilates/budokon for stress relief and meditation. You'd be amazed at what your mind can deal with & let go of when you treat it right!! Good luck - you can do it!!!

Yes, get a second opinion !!! I have worked in mental health as a nurse for 10 years. Doctors are not always right. Sounds like you may have symptoms of Bipolar disorder. Make sure you give the doctor a thorough history even encourage family and friends give their perspective to the doc so he/she will have a better guess at what you r dealing with

Get a second opinion. BPD is rapidly becoming the easy diagnoses for anyone who has issues like your's, but a true BPD is not really that common. Find a psych who has a LOT of experience in that sort of disorder and see him before you accept that this is you.

They tend to over diagnose BPD if you ask me.. They gave me that diagnosis.. But after awhile, my therapist said that I fit Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder more... and from what I just read about you... you have gone through similar life experiences as I have... and I too had this come out as an adult... I would get a second opinion!!!

get a 2nd opinion. character issues are actually not clinically determined till after the age of 18 because of the fact till then their character continues to be forming and concern to alter... a character disease is a pervasive development of perceiving and reacting to the international that's enduring and long term..... i think of that's the hot capture all however for some medical doctors. replaced into it a psychiatrist who clinically determined her? She might have "rising" BPD, or she might have Oppositional defiance disease, or Bipolar... yet you're appropriate, technically, in accordance to the diagnostic standards, she won't have Borderline. actual get a 2nd opinion.... if she is Bipolar then the scientific care is extremely diverse.

I don't know if you have the disorder but you should definetly talk to someone about it. You say you cannot afford a shrink, but who ordered you to go to one? If it was because of a court case, they should pay for it. Also, go to your local college and see about talking to someone there for a discounted price like a professor or a phd student. Can you go to the counselor at your kids' school?

You definitely need someone to talk to. Check with your doctor--he or she may know of a medication that could help, and/or programs for counseling or a group therapy arrangement that might take your income into account.
