Many Christians when asked have said that no sin is greater than any other sin. So are you telling me that stealing a pack of gum is equal to blowing up an elementary school? It’s a good thing our legal system isn’t based on that logic. A DUI would get you the same penalty that Jeffrey Dahmer got.

Your question was a bout sin, not what is worse. You are placing a qualifier, in thought, on the actual act of committing a sin. Yes, a sin is a sin is a sin. Yes blowing up a school is worse than stealing a pack of gum.

Within the laws of man, each crime has it's level of severity. That is why you can rob a store by gunpoint and get x number of years but your friend may rob the same store and use the same method but receive a greater or lesser punishment. However, sin against God indicates a separation between us and God and there is no indication that God differentiates between the severity. He seems to see all sin as being equal. Besides, one sin usually opens the door to a greater sin no matter how small it seems to start off.

Sin is sin, is sin, because you are guilty of sin against God, whether you steal a pack of gum or commit murder or tell a lie,
"For whoever keeps the whole law, yet stumbles in one point, is guilty of breaking all of it. Because the same One who said,"Thou shalt not commit adultery", also said "thou shalt not kill" If you commit adultery, but do not commit murder, you have become a lawbreaker" James 2:10,11

The person who pretends to care about you and steals your things right in front of your nose, or the person who looks you square in the eye and smiles at you and lies to your face, is no better than a person who would serve you a nice meal, who is kind as can be to you, and yet the whole time he's plotting to kill you in his heart.

The person who steals a pack of gum, does it to see if he/she can get away with it without getting caught. If they don't ever get caught, that same person will rob your home while you are sleeping, a stranger stealing from you while you are sleeping is no worse than a friend or a person you trust, stealing right out from under your nose.

And if he feels threatened enough, he'll stab you or shoot you to keep from getting caught. It starts with with small stuff, that's why a person will keep sinning, is because he hasn't got caught, The person who walks into a school and kills, didn't start there, he stole, he lied, and hurt plenty of people along the way and got far enough and got away with it long enough, and he got bolder and more confident he could do it and get away with it, by killing himself. But he is still guilty of it all and will be punished for it all.

The Bible says that if you hate, you are a murderer, because you have murdered him/her in your heart..

if gods judgement and a sinners punishment can be sorer or worse then other times, then thats obviously wrong. maybe they're attempting to explain that all blasphemies and sins can be forgiven regardless of how vile or heinous. (except the blasphemy against the spirit.) I suppose that means some people will be charred forever in raging torrents of white hot flame, while others are slapped over and over with no reprieve.

You've missed the point here. What this saying is trying to say is that if you sinned again then it's likely that you didn't learn anything from the first sin. As such, the sin is worse the next time around. Kind of like the saying: Fool me once, shame on you...fool me twice, shame on me.

If no sin is greater than another, then why is Blasphemy of the holy spirit considered an unforgivable sin, while blaspheming God and Jesus isnt???

Apparently Jesus didn't think all sins are equal, since he told Pilate, "he who delivered me over to you is guilty of the greater sin". Also, James writes that there are "sins unto death" and sins "not unto death". These deadly sins are known as "mortal sins", which means the same thing.
