For the past several years I've been convinced that the seasons are shifting. They are starting earlier and ending sooner. Anybody else think this is so? Why or why not?

And yes, I meant to put this question here.

Hello, i am in Australia, and we are noticing many changes! Where i live we usually get rain in December/January...this year there was none...Also with Mothers day just gone i was looking at the old photos....In all my old mothers day photos we were rugged up tight early in the morning( as winter had set in) This year we were all still in our short pj's! Which made me look at old birthday photos etc and noticed the clothing was all different to the more recent ones...But it changed quickly too! Two weeks ago i still had the air con on some days, and last night i had to light the fire!
It just makes you cry to see what we have done to mother earth....
What is saddest is that people still have not gotten the fact that we are killing our world!
Here is some thing just for you!

I have noticed the season shifting myself.

In fact, recently I discovered a bit more information on the Mayan calendar - it ends 2012 because it's the end of the 5th Sun Cycle. A new calendar will begin with the 6th Sun Cycle, (which I don't know if one has been created yet).

In a conversation with a friend, we were discussing these two facts together (season shift & Mayan calendar) when he came up with a theory.

The earth is on a tilted axis. As each year goes by, the earth tilts a little more. Now that we're in the latter part of the axis tilt, it's tilting faster, causing the more noticeable season shift. Eventually (in 2012 according to the Mayan calendar), the poles (North & South) will swap and the earth as we know it will completely change (namely floodings - anybody buiding any more new arks? Maybe this one can be up in space, with all of the newer technology we have....)

Just a theory...but it fits with the speculations and some of the facts.

There have been many portents concerning this, which is why I moved to the mountains. There is going to be a lot of new waterfront property and I didn't want to stay in Florida and find out how much was owned by Georgia!

I told many people that with all the damage that was done by Katrina and how badly our present leader solved all the problems that we best start moving to higher ground. This Country is always worried about a buck and when we started running out of gas and oil we would have to start using alternative fuel. Gee isn't it interesting how the car companies have started adding hybrids to their lines? And look, the energy companies are coming up with new fuels, that of course they will make at a good price. All of these technologies have been available, but now that the government can't ignor or lie about the Global warming or lack of fossil fuels, these businesses have had time to change gears and reestablish their control over the people in this Country. Capitalism is good, ya right!

The earth is not in a perfectly circular orbit, and it actually wobbles on the axis. The core, being a thick liquid also moves in relation to the crust. That means the magnetic poles shift slightly and have reversed in the past. All these things mean the earth's climate is not static but changing. There is much evidence of climatic warming and cooling trends in both ice cores taken from the glaciers in Antarctica and Greenland as well as the rock record. We're just in the process of another climatic shift.

I don't believe in man made global warning because the shifts have been proven to occur many times before. Consider the years of famine and lack of rain in the Bible as examples if you don't want to believe the rock and glacial records.

Claybold, the tropics are not growing. The tropics are defined by geography, not temperature. Unless there is a change in the tilt of the earth the tropics of cancer and capricorn will stay where they have always been. Winters are not getting warmer. In New England, where the asker is from a new cold record was set last winter. It was the first time in Maine that the temp dropped to -50F. Something is going on. We had 90 degrees in April but not in June. A couple days ago I woke up to 42 degrees. It was the first time I ever turned my furnace on in July. Rainfall has been higher than normal. I hope things dry out soon. This summer has been good for whitewater paddling but not much else.

Yes they are changing. When I was growing up in Miami FL I remember the ways the ocean, gulf and plants and animals were and the weather too. Now I live 800 miles further north and I see the climate here becoming like it was in Miami years ago. The globe is getting warmer. The Gulf of Mexico is like bath water.

The climate has been changing for a long, long time well before Global Warming was topical. It's the nature of the planet to adjust and change although we do have some affect I think the climate will change just as it has done over millennium with out man's intervention.

seasons arent seasons anymore the earth still spins on the same axis but the earth has a cold an infection the parasites infecting her are we feebleape-like fleas... She has been scratching her belly for years now soon she will scratch us from her flesh finally and the healing time will begin another cold grey ice-age cocoon of healing like a scab and she will metamorphosize into a new earth still the same old mother. She will go on We may go on.. a small party of our Dna may survive the healing but our "Progress" will be lost forever

Global Warming. You aren't imagining it. Some of it the natural cycle of the world. The way of evening out the balances, but yes we are speeding it along greatly. Totally messes up Samhain when its freaking warm!!
