Wouldn't omnipotent, omnipresent, omniscient or at the very least supernatural and powerful entities be very self-evident to ALL, especially his creation? Not to mention that given our history and the many gods come and gone the place should be crawling with them?

James W: Amazingly, there is an entire world outside the USA. Most don't believe in the Christian god.

(1) Gods do not exist, or (2) Gods do not want to make themselves known for whatever reason or (3) Gods can't give you this evidence because they haven't the ability.

Alternative (2) and (3) are not worth your worship and thus they equal alternative (1).

Well... it's interesting, because according to the Bible narrative, He used to do that in a big way. As you progress from the more ancient texts to the more recent ones in the Bible, God becomes less of a Being present on Earth and more of an abstract idea. Genesis has God just walking around the garden of Eden like some normal biped, by the time of Moses, He's still very active in the world, but the idea you can see Him is starting to disappear. Only Moses, according to the Old Testament was ever able to see God's face. By the time the historical books were written, you still have this assumption God is supporting Israel, but it's becoming more of a mystical thing. Israel does the fighting and they win if "God" is on their side. In the New Testament, we move away further from this, and now the war God of Israel is taking on a more universal meaning and He becomes a personal God, instead of a national one.

It's me again, Acid_Zebra the Catholic that won't go away lol

Wouldn't you say that the fact that people all over the world since the beginning of human creation have worshipped some type of deity is actually proof there probably is one?

Or another way to put it is that man is born with the knowledge of some higher power and seeks to give it homage.

Of course, because we are fallen, men have invented many false gods to suit their purposes.

As far the obvious part goes, wouldn't you say God sort of is obvious? Kind of like gravity. Everyone knows it's there and it's a powerful force holding us in check, but no one ever sees it and certainly you can't perceive with ANY of the five senses.

The Gods are too busy in their heavenly board rooms laying down strategies on how to increase their market shares.

Their common goal...divide and conquer.

They have no time to mingle with the masses and learn first hand the true needs of their consumers.

A god's power is determined by the number of followers he has.

It's all about quantity not quality !

Because they are made up to suite whatever purposes man has for them. The Jews used god's name to kill for years--then they wrote a book called the bible which justified this killing, pretty cool huh?

Well people around here saw Jesus in a window once. And then Mary in the clouds I think.
OK enough of the smart @#* comments for me. Well...maybe. Anyhow, Divine's DO make themselves known, just not in any tangible way. People feel Them, like you feel the wind. But if you don't believe in it, then you just don't. No big deal either way.

That's what I'd like to know. If God would give clear and unambiguous evidence of his existence (and expectations), then maybe I'd be willing to acknowledge him...

Similar question, similar answer: What part of "supernatural" do some people not get? "Super" here refers to something that is "ABOVE" something else, in this case, God, who is ABOVE the natural realm. That means that He would not be evident to our senses, since they can detect only physical things, unless perhaps He allowed it.

If I were a god, I'd want as many followers as I could get. I'd pound the pavement and press the flesh to get my message across.
