Ive been going for years to Sykeside in the Lake District - see www.sykeside.co.uk. It's well run but reasonably inexpensive, with decent showers, no caravans, and in a lovely setting. Theres also a nice pub (also on the website) to go to in the evening. Enjoy.

Garstang - nr Preston is nice. But the toilets are quite far away from the tents and there are powerlines overhead which buzz all night.
Kendal, Penrith, Keswick - loads of campsites. They are ten a penny, but would recommend becoming a member of the Camping and Caravanning Association, as prices for non-members can be very expensive.
