I recently purchased Microsoft Word 2007 for my Windows Vista computer. The default font is Calibri (Body) at size 11, but I would like it to be Times New Roman at size 12. It is also automatically set to be double-spaced, but I would like it to be single-spaced. If anyone knows how to change this, please help me.

I have Word 2007 running on Vista.

Under the Home tab (Word automatically opens to this tab) there are groups of icons. The first says "Clipboard, the second says "Font", the third says "Paragraph".

See where it says the word "Font" below the icons? There is a very tiny arrow to the right of it (just before the "Paragraph" group of icons). Click on it. Select Times New Roman and change the font size to 12 and click on the button at the bottom that says "Default". It will ask you if you want to change it on the Normal template. Select "Yes".

The line spacing is done almost the same way. This time look for the word "Paragraph" below the group of icons. Click on the very tiny arrow to the right of "Paragraph". Where it says "Line Spacing" click on the drop down list and select "Single". Where it says "After" (to the left of Line Spacing) change it to "0" (zero). Now click on the default button and again select "Yes".

I highly recommend checking this out if you haven't already done so - it will make the transition much easier: http://office.microsoft.com/en-ca/training/CR100654561033.aspx
Select "Up To Speed with Word 2007" for hints and tips to figure out the new system.

Another invaluable tool is the "Interactive Command Reference Guide" - press "Start Guide". What this does is let you enter a command using the 2003 method and it will show you where the command is in 2007. Here's the link: http://office.microsoft.com/en-ca/training/CR100654561033.aspx

Cheers.

At the top of the page there should be a drop down bar with the name of the font visile find the font you want and select it. Do the same for the size. To eliminate double spacing go to the edit menu and there should be a menu for spacing

While in any document, go to format-font. Select the font you want, then click default. All subsequent documents will open in that font.

To do multiple changes, you'll need to change, redefine, or select a new "normal" style (the style that it will default to).

format--style--click normal, then modify. You can make any changes there.
