An act of worship involves the adoration and affection of any object, both animate and inanimate. Jesus said:Where your treasure is,there also is your heart.

Humbling ones self and adoring something is an act of worship. Yes, it always involves God because "God" is a title meaning that to have the title of God you are all powerful, all knowing and of course worthy of worship for if you are not a God you should not be worshiped.

Worship means homage paid to a person or thing. The supreme act of worship is to pay homage to the living and true God.

When addressed to false gods, idols, mere men and objects, worship becomes IDOLATRY.

By the way, showing reverence or devotion for people, objects and images, is not idolatry.

Well, I have a very personal and pagan definition of the term. Let's just say that, in common with many others, I do it on my knees.

Or rather, used to: if I tried now I would not be able to get up. And while My Steve may not have been a god to everyone, he was manifesting the god Apollo for me at that time.

true worship is God-centered worship. true worship isn't confined to singing in church, or open praise [although these things are both good and we are told to do them in the bible], but it is the acknowledgment of God and all his power and glory in the things we do. to do this, we must know God, we can not be ignorant of him .. worship is to glorify and exalt God; to show our loyalty and admiration to our father.

It doesn't have to involve god at all. I worship myself everyday for being so awesome. I also give thanks to myself for not being taken in by that load of crap known as religion.
