intentionally mistranslated sections of those books in their published versions, even though the originals still exist without the creative translating, and then wrote new books where they made it look like the 'prophecies' in the old books had come true in the 'new' books, and then published the two books together, wouldn't that just make your bullshit meter hit the roof?!?

The best thing for us to do then is to ignore those newly translated or published books since we know what they are and instead, concentrate on the ONE HOLY BOOK which contains the whole truth so that we will not be deceived.

Revelation 22:18-19: "For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book. If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book."

I don't think you would need to alter the old books to fit.

Just in the new book say a whole bunch of stuff that lines up with older book so it sounds like prophecy.

I mean if you don't write anything down, until 50 years later and if you tell the story enough times. When people read it later, it would sound true enough, wouldn't it?

And hey, look. It's just like the prophecy said, in the older books, too!

ps. I don't think people know you are referring to the Old and New Testament a.k.a. The Bible

It would be tough for that book to last more than a couple years unless a whole country that had read the first book witnessed the prophecies being fulfilled. It would be even tougher for that book to have prophecies that are even being fullfilled in present day... unless of course it was true.

Please, please take a history class.

If you're talking about the Old Testament and the New Testament, your argument is so inaccurate I don't even know where to begin.

If the Old Testament was changed to make the New Testament fulfill Old Testament prophesy, why would Jews also believe in the inerrancy of the Old Testament? They don't believe in the inerrancy of the New Testament, obviously.

Or are you talking about the Book of Mormon? In which case I haven't studied that particular book, and therefore can't refute your statement.

Could you clarify your position?

Dear Fr. Guido, Why worry about those who may have faked things centuries ago? Worry more about the people faking things NOW.

Medjugorje is one of the biggest hoaxes ever concocted. Never in the history of the Catholic Church has an apparition continued for so long. NEVER has an apparition "spun off" seers. TONS of people go there then come back having "visions" of their own. And all full of lies.

One of those false spin offs is Anne the Lay Apostle. During the week she's a heavily made up well coiffed supporter of abortion and divorce. On the weekends she scrubs her make up off, slicks her hair down and speaks at Catholic conferences oozing with false piety.

I won't bother to speak about the false prophets outside of my own denomination.

Would you die for the Flying Spaghetti Monster?
Would you totally make something up knowing that it would lead to a life of persecution, pain, suffering, torture and execution?
Why would the Apostles continue to write and preach about Jesus when they knew that it was unpopular and that they would be hunted down and tortured and killed? No fame, no money, no earthly benefits.
The only reason anyone would have for doing this is if they truly believed something to be true and were willing to die for that truth.

Most of these folks don't appear to acknowledge that it's already happened. It's as if they deny that there are no older texts and earlier 'editions' to prove it.

Maybe we should bring in th documented sources to prove it.
Would they still deny it, do you think?

It really works well, though, if you have a whole bunch of people who aren't willing to look past the end of their nose for the truth!

Added: Looking at the answers and shaking my head. Conspiracy theory indeed. C'mon people...educate yourselves!
