....and you disagree with that statement (if you do of course), then do you think that they are lying, or just misinformed about their own bodies and minds?

They are buying into a lie. They can lie to themselves enough that they believe it.

I don't think they're lying, but I do think they've been misinformed and perhaps need a reason for their preference. But also in today's world homosexuality (or "pansexuality" as an acquaintance puts it) seems to be oh so fashionable.
Personally I think it *is* a choice, but that choice may well be unconscious, a response to negative role models within the family (stifling parents, cruelty, weakness etc) or abuse or other trauma.
Of course having a tendency doesn't mean you necessarily have to act it out. In my own family there is a strong tendency to addictive behaviour, be it alcohol or gambling. So I avoid both of them.

When You Chose something, you try several options and then decide which you like the best. If you chose to be heteralsexual, that would mean that you tried kissing and having sex with men and then tried it with women and maybe a few sheep and decided that you like women the best. I could never make such a choice. Many of my male friends are gay but the thought of kissing one of them makes me puke. There is no choice involved. It is just the way the genes were placed in our body. If you think it is evil them blame God. I love God and I love all of his creations.

The point that Christians are trying to make about a choice is that they want gays to understand that we are an abomination in the eyes of their God and that we have the choice to be celibate. I may be a gay minister, but the idea of being celibate and not looking for someone to spend my life with isn't a choice in my book. Everyone should have the right to find love and to share that love with whom they choose!

why on earth would we lie? and collectively at that? If being gay is a choice then straight people must have tried gay sex at some point and decided they were going to chose to be straight. What garbage. Really, think it through..

Silly people.
Of course being gay is a choice.
Living is a choice.
If you choose not to live...
Abracadabra!
You're not gay!
On the other hand,
if you'd prefer to live,
you'll just have to cope with your disgusting cravings for...

Euro-trashy designer clothing. ; )

I think they're referring to homosexual acts, not the state of being homosexual. They seem to think it involves some compulsion to engage in homosexual acts apart from any physical or emotional attraction to the other person. It's all purely external to them.

Sure, we can choose to be celibate or to force ourselves to have sex with the "wrong" gender. But why should we? They don't.

Neither.
It isn't a choice, and science bears that out. One can "choose" not to act on being gay, and "choose" to live a celibate lifestyle, but they are still gay.

One cannot choose to not be gay, any more than one can choose not to find a particular person attractive, or not to find beautiful anything that they find beautiful. These things are part of who we are. Our sexual identities are far more though, than an acquired taste.

What I find quite amazing is the Christians who wish to repeal, or to not grant civil rights to homosexuals because they think that seuality is a choice, but they wish to retain civil rights based on religious choice, which is quite obviously a choice.

Interesting way of thinking these people have.

I still shake my head when I hear people claim it's a "choice." I would assume they don't know one soul that's gay or lesbian...or they would know better. we "choose" to be gay as much as someone "chooses" to be straight...or short...or tall....or brown-eyed...or blue-eyed....or blond...or brunette. do you really think we'd "choose" to be someone that is constantly persecuted, harassed and discriminated against by sometimes violent bigots?
God created and loves us all....and if He didn't create homosexuals....there wouldn't be any!

Now this is not my opinion this is what the bible and God state. My opinion, its between you and your maker

God created male and female to go forth and multiple. Right there tells you we are all born hetrosexual. God considers homosexuality an abomination and destroyed 2 cities because of homosexuality. God did not create you homosexual. You should therefore, be careful of making accusation such that He gave
you your desires for other men. God cannot Himself be tempted to do evil, nor will He ever tempt any man to do evil or, to go against
the grain of His own word (James 1). Rather, as you know, God created the basis only for monogamous, heterosexual,
relations: a man is to leave his own father and mother and join with his wife (a woman), so as to form what in God’s Eyes, amounts
to one complete human being, although they are in fact two separate individuals. God is no more responsible for the desires of homosexuals who long for same sex relationships than He is for the
desires of murderers (of whatever genre) to commit murder, or thieves to commit theft, or of adulterers/fornicators to commit adultery
or fornication, etc., etc., and so on and so forth—you get the picture.

You were born straight or gay... and that cannot be changed.

It's only the religious folks who believe that you can 'change', it is easier to believe that, than knowing that God made some people gay, which conflicts with their narrow beliefs.

If you believe that God made some people gay, you would then need to accept it, which 'they' have been conditioned to believe is sinful - therein lies the issue.

Sexual attraction is not something you can just turn on or off -- When religious folks say they can change people it makes me laugh. Christian fundamentalists work as hard as they can to ensure that gay people are demoralized and persecuted enough to fit their stereotypes.

Ignorance is a choice. Sexual orientation is not
