My dog hasn't eaten anything, and he is lying down in the laundry room and shaking. He has been like this since lastnight. His eyes are all glazed over, and his stomach is a little bloated. He pooped and peed earlier today...he's 10. He won't move and he looks all sad. years old. What's wrong with him?
There's no vet appointments open.
And my dad is being slow, so he won't call the emergency place.

He's 10 years old*
This is stupid!!! NOTHING IS OPEN! He's going to die and it's going to be all my fault because I can't drive.

HAHA!!! I just found out that he just ate a bunch of bones. And his stomache ache was so bad that he couldn't walk. He's not very smart. :~)
But, yeah, they put him on antibiotics and gave him fluids, and now he's fine...
Haha, I had to yell at the receptionist to answer one of my questions. ARGH!
Well at least he's ok now.

Sounds like he might have been poisoned. There are also numerous medical conditions that could cause this in a ten year old lab. Tell your dad to get the dog to the vet. If you're up for some family stife, you can threaten to call animal control if he doesn't or just go ahead and do it. Not good for family peace but neither is the way he is handling the situation with your dog. He really needs to be at the vet's right now. Call and see if they'll take an emergency appointment and explain the symptoms. Sometimes your own vet will let you in if you do that. You can also call around and see if there are vets that take walk-ins. Just find a way to get him seen. I'm really sorry you have to go through this.

Go to a different vet if you have to. Any vet will take any animal in an emergency. The poor darling does sound very ill.

As much as we want to help sweetie we can;t. The only one who can help is a real vet. I will help as much as I can by sending a prayer and hope your parents will get him the help he so badly needs.

Sweetie it's NOT your fault. If it's anyones fault it's your dad's. I'm sure he can drive. I so wish I could give you a big hug and drive you myself. I may just have to pause to give your dad a slap on the way though. I so feel for you. Honest we all know how much you care.

It sounds like your dog is seriously ill and absolutely needs to see a vet. Take him to your regular vet without an appointment - they should take an emergency when it comes in - or take him to an emergency vet ASAP.

You were saying that his stomach is a little bloated. There's a very serious condition in dogs called bloat which can kill a dog quickly if it's not immediately treated. This website - http://www.globalspan.net/bloat.htm - has more information about it. If this sounds at all like your dog, take him to the vet NOW.

Is your laundry room kind of secluded? Animals, especially ones who have families, go to be alone when they are dieing. I do not know enough. But I would say that your dog might be trying to die. I would get to an emergency animal hospital ASAP though. If your dad is taking a long time. Call yourself and explain the situation. Obviously your dad doesn't care that much about the dog. I'm sorry....good luck!

Open up the phone book or computer and look for a Mobile Vet. It may cost a bit more but your dog needs the help now. He may be having seizures.

Tell your father that it is your dog's RIGHT by law to receive proper medical attention, that to refuse is considered abuse, and that he can be cited by an Animal Control Officer and will have to appear in court before a judge -- and rightfully so!

Try that mobile vet; maybe the vet can come to you!

Your vet should have been able to squeeze you in today as this isn't normal behavior and could be considered and emergency. Me? I would have b*tched and complained until they got me in today.

Going to the emergency will probably cost you triple the amount of your normal doctor, if not more. It will be well worth it to call the vet back NOW and DEMAND to be seen today. If the receptionists give you a problem, DEMAND to speak to the doctor directly or the office manager.

Obviously your dog is sick and possibly suffering. Do what you need to do to get him seen NOW!

That's exactly how my dog was before she passed away at age 10 (healthy as could be before that). My dog did her buisness while lying down, thats was not a good sign. Her heart just started failing.

Better safer than sorry...they're part of the family. If you sense there's something wrong, go and get him checked out. HE can't tell you, but a vet can.

Poison or you fed him chicken bones huh? First thing to do is pour some shortening down him, Second thing to do is mix up some peptol bismol and get that down him, 10 years is old for a dog you know ,Hate to tell you hon but your dogs time is limited and be there for him, If no vet is open and you want help then force your dog and you onto a vet Just go, but his kidneys are shutting down sure he peed but they are I know you said the same thing my dog did and took him to a vet but mine is buryed behind the house

All you can do, yourself, is make sure he's as comfortable as possible. Get some water & food, & see if you can coax him to drink or eat at all. Stay with him & let him know you're there & that you love him. Heck, call the 'emergency vet' yourself & just tell them what's happening. They might tell you something you can do. I hope for the best for you.

It doesnt matter if there are any appointments opened or not , once you get him to the Vet and the vet sees he is not doing well they will automatically take the dog in and check it out
