LYNCHBURG, Va. — A 19-year-old Liberty University student was arrested late Monday night after Virginia cops found he had napalm-like devices that he may have been planning to use on protesters at Rev. Jerry Falwell's funeral, FOX News confirmed.

DO you think the kid was right or wrong?
I think he lost his mind!

In a university of around 10,000 students, there's bound to be a nut somewhere. You just can't have that many people without some rotten apples.

I know that the LU students tried to be as Christ-like as possible in the face of people like the Westboro "Baptist" Church, and others like them. But, please don't stereotype a whole school based on one person!! The campus is disappointed that something like this happened! We would never condone this type of behavior!

It's a shame that something like that happened on a day of remembrance, but we'll move on.

I'm of two minds on this. Killing is always wrong. However, the people he was going to kill were the Westboro Bapitst Church members, found here:

www.godhatesamerica.com.

I think he just lost it when he found out these people were going to protest Falwell's funeral.

I think the kid was wrong to build the devices but I also feel that anyone that protests at a funeral should be beaten down until they are nothing but puddles

He's from Amissville. Yeah, reallu. Something is definately amiss with this guy!

No, I don't believe he was right. It was also wrong to protest at the man's funeral, but that's definately a lesser evil that planning to napalm people.

Sick damn world.

Not a cool thing to do.

I believe I heard that Fred Phelps and his gang were talking about protesting at the Falwell funeral. Perhaps that's who he was going to throw it at.

I feel sorry for him. Did the Phelps picket Falwell's funeral? I heard the boy was upset and afraid they would and he said he was going to do something about it if they did. Poor guy...out of his rational mind...

Ya so what and what a so stated as napalm-contraptions a can of hair spray. cops are away making some thing out of no longer something and if it became a napalm, why did no longer she or he apply it to the cops? it would make for a extra advantageous storey.

"Good people will do good things, and bad people will do bad things. But for good people to do bad things--that takes religion." - Steven Weinberg

@DrPepperholic: the point is not that this one nutcase is unrepresentative of the rest of student body - it's that he was *motivated by religion*.

No-one in their right minds would try to claim that all the LU student are that crazy, but that doesn't alter the fact that religion is a catalyst and an enabler for that one nutcase. And there are lots of nutcases around, just waiting for a cause to kill and die for.

I was shocked. What was he thinking? Is it really worth taking a human life to get your opinions across? What is with people these days that they think they have to kill anyone that doesn't see things their way?
