find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

you are not a picky eater if you only like junk food. ohhh bid deal you like salt and fat. a real picky eater.
it is more likely that you are over weight because you do not exercise and eat 1.5 to 2 times the calories you should eat each day. starving your self is not the answer either.
sign up for weight watchers online and track your food intake with points. you will find that you can still eat things that you want, as long as you have portion control. and try exercising 30 minutes 3 times a week and then get that to everyday

The best diet is one that delivers the proper amount of macronutrients in the correct ratio (carbs, protein and fats). However in order to be succesful in losing you should change your diet permanently. Look at where your current diet has gotten you. Gradually replace unhealthy choices with healthier ones - you won't feel deprived and it gives your body a chance to adjust to new foods without producing cravings for junk food.
I'm advocate of a high protein, high fiber diet, which means eating lots of lean protein from animal sources, lots of vegetables and some fruit. Cut back fried foods, empty calorie foods and calorie dense carbohydrates such as bread, pasta, potatoes, beans, rice, corn, oatmeal and other cereal grains and dairy.
Veggies should be eaten raw or partially cooked and avoid dried fruits as they are high in sugar.
Drink 80 to 120 oz of water per day and eliminate or reduce your consumption of soda, fruit juices, caffeinated and alcoholic beverages.
Good luck.

starving yourself generally is never a good idea. that means whenever you do eat something your body just stores it as fat and you gain weight instead of losing weight. the key to losing weight is that you have to eat. stay away from the sugar and the bad fats, anything fried. replace these things with fruit and vegetables and fish. And of course this is no surprise but you need to excersize and diet if you want to lose weight, its not one or the other.

I hate to say it but the only way to lose weight is to make sure that your output is more than your input. You need to work out to burn calories , you also need to eat less and let ur body get used to it. If you are hungry make sure you eat something, if you dont lose weight properly you may put the weight back on.
If you work out every day for one hour you'll be ok

Eat clean. That means eating food as close to nature as possible and choosing healthy cooking methods such as steaming, baking, broiling, and grilling. Eat a lot of veggies and fruits and lean protein. Keep crappy food out of your house.
