It's kind of interesting that when people are polled, the majority think they are more intelligent, nicer, and more attractive than average. Although that is a statistical impossibility. Someone has to be below average! But I guess below average people don't know that about themselves.

I am book smart, but not street smart.

Smart? Me? Never!!!

I just consider myself "experienced".

Being smart is not the same as being experienced.

Being experienced is making all the wrong moves, and every mistake in the book, so that if anyone asks how to do this, or that, I can give them the answer because I have made the mistake once, maybe even twice in my life!

Being smart is not having to make the mistakes, and not experiencing all the heartaches and tragedies. They dont get the experience of something gone wrong, and getting it "worked out", and figuring what you "did" wrong, so that you will know how to redo the silly thing this way and that way or a 100 different ways to get out of a jam.

No, I would rather be experienced than smart, because it means I tried something new, and failed. Being smart, I probably wouldnt have bothered, knowing it would fail, but, being experienced, it means that I have failed and then reworked everything so that it came out "right"!

I wish you well...

Jesse

Yes - my IQ has been tested around 140 to 145, which is considerably above average. I have always had an easy time in primary school, college and post-graduate work and graduated at the top of my class. I was consistently in the top 5% on standardized tests. My vocabulary seems to be much more extensive than the average.

Most importantly, I avoid sounding like an idiot whenever possible, such as avoiding the use of the word "loose" in place of the word "lose," or saying things like "less people" or "supposovely."

Yes, I do. I know it is unfashionable to admit it, but the IQ tests I took when I was young, the grades I got in a good college (University of Michigan, class of 1974), and the responses from other people I have had most of my life have convinced me.

On the other hand, I'm also aware of how little I really do know. I have a smattering of facts, a reasonably good analytic skill, some communication skills, and a memory just good enough to haunt me with a random assortment of "I used to know that" events.

It is very sad to review my own limits and then contemplate the fact that I have been told 98 to 99 percent of the people I meet are likely to be even more limited.

Yes, but I also think that intelligence is meaningless if it isn't applied to a cause of some kind. Genius without application is kind of like an empty water bucket in the middle of the desert - pretty much useless. I also know that there are people that are a lot smarter than I am, but I am definitely on the "way above average" scale, probably because I was fortunate enough to have very intelligent parents.

Generally, other people consider me to be smart. We aren't usually the best judge, because our ego gets in the way.

Depends. Somedays yes, somedays no. Overall I like to think I weigh matters more thoroughly than most. Whether that makes me smart or indecisive is another question!

Not really,I would say that I am smart enough to know when a stove is hot or when there's a puddle of mud on the to jump over it.
