My advice is pick one. Wait a year. If you still want it at the end of that year... GO FOR IT!
Note: I have 3 hearts on my pelvic bone... too cute!

Usually when someone gets a tattoo they do it to signify something in their life. If you watch miami ink you will see that people getting tattoo's get it for a reason. Some do it for a loved one that passed away or some do it to resemble a past time that was important to them in their life. Don't get a tattoo just because you want one. Most case scenario you won't like it and regret it. If you do like stars and moon and stuff like that look at some designs in tattoo parlors or look on-line at some examples until you have a design in your head. When you get that design tell a tattoo artist and get your tattoo. Good Luck!

Just because you're 18 doesn't mean you HAVE to get a tattoo. You should wait until you decide what you really want to have because it is permanent. Plus don't you want to have a great idea instead of using someone else's? Good luck

I'm not exactly 18 yet but i've decided on my tatoos, mine are going to be a heart with vines comming out of it on my back, and the Air Force Logo on my ankle to remind me of my Dad. I think that you should get one that reflects your personality, for instance if you like th outdoors get a butterfly, or if you like sports pick your favey and get a tat of that. It's all up to you but here are just a couple of ideas.
Hope I could help

Take Scot's pines advice. Washable markers and draw on yourself to see what you like and where. If you do get a tat, ask around to see where others have had theirs done. Go to someone who knows what they're doing. Tats are permanent, there's no going back. Suggestion: Portrait of your mother looking up over your left shoulder.

I'm sorry but i'm a very honest person, If you do get one "And I have many" then make sure you dont put it at the top of your butt crack. Men refer to it as a "Target". But if your woundering what to put on your body I think you should really figure that out yourself. I have a Hatchit Man on my right shoulder, and a Panter on my left. I have a symbol of love on my back left shoulder blade, and I have MT on the inside of my arm. I also have a heart on my ankle and soon to get on on my stomic. There alot of fun but all mean something very serious to me. Find your image of symbolizum and put ink to skin. Best of wishes to you from me and trust me whatever you put there it's going to make you smile. So yah smile now and stay safe. peace

Go to yahoo images of Hearts and Starts tattoos. You will be amazed what comes up. Just make sure you think long and hard about this ... remember permanent. I love all 4 of my tats.

If you want a tattoo at 18 and no one can talk you out of it, get a very teeny tiny one! By the time you get out of college, you'll wish you had gotten something else. Your tastes will have changed several times by then.

honestly, you should think about this before rushing into it the day you turn 18. I waited a while and I couldn't be happier.
Just remember that this is something you will have forever, tattoo removal is not a great solution, and you should definitely think about what you want before you go.
This site helped me a lot:

I would suggest drawing your own, editing it for a year or so and bringing it to the tatoo parlor and having them revise and come up with a spin off of that. That's what I did, and I've never had regrets...
