I see there is some low level work being done in labs mixing human
and animal cells. I read in some journals that they mixed some human
and pig cells let them divide about 36 divisions before destroying
them. Though such feats were impossible a few decades back, science
fiction once again is becoming a reality.

There is talk of creating chimeras (part human, animal) in the future
to work in dangerous, hostile environments such as the deep sea
(human x fish, dolphins) perhaps the ocean in the moon Europa or Mars
someday. Sadly, the 100 year old HG Wells novel, of the Island of Dr.
Moreau may become a reality someday. The Stalinist regime in the
1930's apparently tried to cross humans with apes without success to
have a new kind of strong soldier-slave caste.

Now I regard this sort of work and research as an abomination to God,
countries around the world are trying to ban this type of research
but you all know as well as I do that there will always be people
to try it.

I don't see it as an Abomination. I have this theory that if God really doesn't want us to do something - He'll stop us. And in this case, it wouldn't even involve pillars of salt. Just make sure the Hybrids don't work. I don't suspect he's let us create soul less monsters - unless they were going to eat us as punishment for our hubris.

I do, however, see a lot of ethical issues. And I would want solutions in writing before I would even consider being for something like this. We already have enough issues with rights. Are these Chimeras humans or animals, do they have rights? Why should be be able to ask them to do dangerous things we ourselves won't? Do they get paid, are they allowed to have children? Are they intelligent? Then you get into really obnoxious (but probably necessary) debates like is eating them cannibalism? (you know it will come up).

I think we have enough trouble being resposible for and loving one another and ourselves - do we really want to bring hybrid innocents into the mess?

God has proven He can take care of Himself. I'm more worried about the Chimp - man -zees and She-rimps. Dolph - men? Wo-rang- utann?

You have a good point about religions not accepting other religions' beliefs. If the Baptists think the Mormons are to be consumed in the fire, Where does that leave atheists with regard to respecting both of them?

if they succeed, which they likely will not, since they can't even clone humans, likely, they will not have souls. I guess God will reveal to us whether they are still considered "humans" if they succeed, and of course then we may be able to lead them to salvation. but I highly doubt they would have souls. God came to save the souls of mankind, not chimera kind.

if we want slaves we can use robots. they're cooler and have no ethical situations behind them.

36 divisions?

That'd be 68,719,476,736 ... 68 billion cells. That'd be a being that had been born and carried on quite a long portion of an adult life.

In short - bull$#!+.

Chimeric organisms appear in nature. Your god makes abominations, does he?
