LOL, I can only imagine. The woman at the well (the one who had had five husbands) would have been renamed the Wife of Bath. Then she probably would have told a tale about a Roman soldier who had to choose whether his wife would be ugly by day and beautiful by night, or beautiful by day and ugly by night.
Incidentally, I also still have the first eighteen lines of the prologue memorized, though for me, it's only been eight years since I had to memorize it. I LOVE the Canterbury Tales.

Not that it matters, but I can still quote the first 18 lines of the Prologue to The Canterbury Tales--Had to memorise it in high school over 30 years ago.
