Being the short stack at the table, I had pocket Aces and went all in. I got called by someone hold King nine unsuited. Not only did he get the straight but he got the Queen on the river to complete it

This was not online poker.

Lots of people bashing pocket aces here - it's just because that hand is often not played correct. People think AA is infalliable and overplay the hand. Don't be afraid to fold when the board shows a good possibility of better hands (straight, flush). I'll take pocket aces ANY time.

To answer the original question - worst beat I had was quad Q's to quad kings. Playing $10/20 no limit. Most people were buying in for $500-1000. I had about $4k in front of me. Other guy had about $6k. We're the two big stacks at the time.

I get q's. Push out $80. Another guy calls. Big stack raises
to $200. He's pretty tight, so I'm thinking he's got me at this point. AA, KK, AK. Or he was overplaying a lower pair trying to get me to run. I just call. Other guy leaves.

Flop KQQ. Flopped quads!. I check, slow play. Bingo! He bets pot (like $500). I'm hoping he has KK at this point. I pretend to think a while and just call.

Turn - blank - 3 or 4 or something like that. 4 suits on the board. I check again. He bets $1000 - this is now the biggest pot of the night. I come over the top and raise $1000. He goes all in. I call. Just a bit over 8 grand in the pot. Everybody is going absolutely nuts. He turns over the kings (which at this point I'm sure he has). I turn over the ladies. Only one card in the deck can beat me. River, of course, is the case king.

I can't speak. $4k is a lot of money for me to lose. I didn't play for about a month afterward.

i've never had a terrible beat on live poker, but online countless times. the one i remember the most, i have 9 6 off suit someone has 9 6 suited (spades), we both flop straights, and there's one spade out there, i go all in, the guy calls, and gets running spades for a straight flush. online bull though. live..i flopped 3 of a kind, go all in, the guy calls with top pair and gets 4 diamonds for a flush. also pocket aces are good for 2 things...winning small pots or losing big pots.

There were 4 hearts on the table and I was holding the Ace, there's no pair showing (so no chance of a full house). I think that I've got the Nuts and go all in.

Didn't figure that someone would be able to make a straight flush though . . . ughhhhhhhh, it still hurts 3 months later.

this wasn't really a bad beat because i had the worst hand when the money went in but it was still pretty sick:

i had K-J of hearts and short-stacked went all-in before the flop, and i get called by someone holding two red sixes

the flop was 9-5-4 with two hearts

the turn was the 8 of hearts and i said aloud, "he's drawing dead", but then corrected myself to say, "wait, he can catch the 7 of hearts"

i don't really need to tell you what hit on the river

pocket aces look like a sure win but they never are they are sort of a trap. Many fall for it
that and a 2 and 7 card hand are the two worst combinatios.

its best to go in with cards that are close together or of the same suit like a 7 and a J would be good.

just stay away from pocket aces and 2 and 7

oh well, nothing much you can do being short stacked and all.

Here's one of my favorites.
Flopped a 9s full of 8's from the big blind. got a sucker raising me then calling me all the way to the river. A 10 hits on the river.and he shows pocket 10's giving him a bigger house.

ha! oh well, it happens :) .

Easy.

I have red aces. He has AK suited (spades, I think). We get it all in preflop.

Flop comes three low hearts. I have the nut flush draw, and his AK crushed. He needs running kings to win, but not the king of hearts (that would make my flush).

Turn is K diamonds.
River is K clubs.

SICK!

I limped in holding the black 2s. Flop came 2h-ah-2d.
Three of us all-in, one had Ac-Qh, & the big blind 4h-3h.

Sure enough turn & river: -8s-5h giving big blind a straight flush to beat my quad 2s.

Ouch. Most 'really' bad beat stories I hear of have a straight flush in there.

Let me guess...online poker?

Online poker seems very fishy to me the times I've played, and I know this because I play a lot of live games as well...

I've had way to many bad beats to even come up with one.
