As an Earnhardt fan all I can say is thanks for remembering the man. It is what he wanted most in life; to be remembered.

It wasn't that important to him how he was remembered.

Everytime his name is mentioned in any context, it always brings a smile to my face.

Got an even better one for ya....A Stewart fan, a Gordon fan, and a Dale Sr. fan are all going to a race together. Seeing as they have been having quite the good time with the road beverages (like all good race fans do), they pull over to relieve themselves. As their urinating, the Stewart fan lookas down and sees a foot sticking out of the bushes. Further discovery proves that it is a naked woman who has been brutalized and left for dead. Without hesitation, the Stewart fan places his #20 hat over her left breast. 'That's a mighty fine idea." says the Gordon fan, and places his #24 hat over her right breast. Not to be outdone, the Dale Sr. fan takes his #3 hat, and places it over her genital regions. When the police arrive to inspect the crime scene/body, one of the officers notices the hats, and they explain that they placed them there. He picks up the #20 hat, takes a few notes, and then places it back over her left breast. He picks up the #24 hat, takes a few notes, and replaces it on her right breast. He then picks up the #3 hat, takes a few notes, puts it down, picks it back up and takes some more notes. He does this three more times before the Dale Sr fan says "Hey buddy, what are ya, some kind of pervert?" to which the officer replies: "No, it's just usually whenever I look under a #3 hat I find an a**hole." Let's not forget, Dale Sr and Jeff Gordon have a lot in common...both were/are at the top of their game, and anyone besides their fans hate them for it. Earnhardt didn't get all this sappy love from bandwagon race fans when he was around.....he didn't want it then, and I am sure that he wouldn't want it now. It wasn't whether you were loved or hated, it was whether or not you got the job done...and he most definitely got the job done.

Anybody that makes jokes about the dead needs help especially when he talks about somebody that died doing what he loves. That's the same as somebody making jokes about Reggie White, or Walter Peyton and that's just wrong. He needs to make jokes about Saddam, or somebody like that.

It is pretty morbid but hey so what? So many people forget that when he was alive he wasn't all loved like he is now. He didn't get the knickname "Intimidator" by being a nice respectable guy. But with fans knowing less and less about the sport, it is becoming more of a pop culture thing almost. I'm not saying that it's ever right to make fun of something like that, but let's not act like he was some angel from above.

He finished 57th on the year so he did not finish dead last.I'm sure the person didn't mean anything by it.But it is tasteless just like the people cheering when the Busch brothers wrecked,it was stupid.

It actually was not last. He finished 12th in that race... some other people only raced once and finished worse than 12th. Therefore, he was not last.

He was 57th out of 70.

on a scale of morbidness, 1-10 I'd say an 8.5.

Never wish death upon anyone, and don't bring up someones mistakes in their past.
