Aritst, musician, film maker, photograper, David Byrne said this:

I do envy those who have a more conventional lifestyle. Those ******' happy people! Why do they deserve to be happy? I have to devalue happiness because I haven't been able to achieve it so brainlessly and effortlessly as others appear to have. So I have to lower its commodity value and say that happiness is not all it's cracked up to be. But, actually, surprisingly, I think I am a happy person.

Happiness is neither a necessity nor a luxury. It is a purpose. It's the thing everyone strives for, why we really bother living. Think about it-you don't kill yourself when you're not happy. People commit suicide when they feel there is no hope for them to become happy. People who still have that hope will endure anything, because they believe it will come. Why do we bother with anything? Because that thing makes us happy. Even the things that in the long run make us miserable, at least for a short time make us happy. We get high on drugs, have stupidly free sex, because, for a few seconds, we feel satisfied, which is the closest we can come to true happiness in self-indulgence. Though these things ruin us later, at least for a minute or two we felt okay. Joy is a goal we strive for, and happiness is the fulfillment of that goal. So don't give up, and keep on pushing. If you but remember to keep your priorities straight, you will reach that goal. I guarantee it. So look up and keep going. You're closer than you think.

I think it's necessary to be happy in life. If people aren't happy, then you find the depressives and the suicidal people of the world who think they have nothing better to live for. Happiness is a necessity.

Happiness is a necessity. You are responsible for making yourself happy and nobody else is! It's the same thinking as if your bored your a boring person because you are responsible for coming up with ideas to have fun.

Happiness is a choice. You set the stage for what makes you happy and live it.

I'm a complete hedonist about happiness.

It pays off well, to know how to live in subtle satisfaction. To appreciate small things. That is the bare essentials of living with happiness.

There is a clear difference in happiness and joy.
Happiness is dependant on favourable circumstances and things, but joy comes from knowing the Lord. The joy of the Lord for the Christian is our strength. Even in the midst of the most devastating experiences in my life, I have experienced that true joy which comes only through Jesus Christ my Lord.

Do you know Him?
He is worth getting to know!

LUXURY because sometimes we're happy and sometimes we're sad. It doesn't matter as long as we make the most of everything and look foward to those happy moments.
