I feel like I look ridiculous. My friends and family always tell me that I am pretty and not fat. but when they say that I feel worse.
If you all dont think it is possible to lose 50 in 3 months. Then PLEASE help me lose the maximum weight possible.

As a physician that has a specialization in weight loss and in performance for athletes, I help people get back into better health with nutrition and exercise, and its possible to lose weight and look and feel better if you make a true LIFESTYLE CHANGE .
I wouldnt focus on how many pounds but how you look and feel. I dont think you need to lose 50 lbs. your ideal body weight is around120-125. You can certainly be near that in 90 days if you make a lifestyle change.
First and foremost, starvation is NOT the way to go. So follow these steps, its not easy at first but it simply depends how motivated you are, and once you start to see results you will never go back!!

1. First , you must eat often. 5-6 times a day AND IT HAS TO BE A NUTRITIOUS DIET NOT JUNK. You want to gain muscle and lose fat . Starvation does not work in any healthy manner, your body simply slows down your metabolism. Bodies that are well fed mobilize fats for energy and build healthy lean muscle.
Bodies that are starved 12 hours a day simply tend to STORE the next meal they do get because it doesnt know when the next meal is coming. Its evolution in action.
Another way to look at it.You can't build a temple out of mud right? So you have to eat right.
Three sensible meals with 2-3 supplemental meals.(see #2 below) Some basic rules:
NO refined sugars( no pop candies cookies etc) and certainly no fast food at all. Beer and pop are dead colories. Processed foods are high colorie usually. use your common sense, everyone knows you can't eat at Mcdonalds and lose weight.
Minimal refined grains like white bread and white pasta and white rice. If its white its not right. Whole grains in bread and pastas etc, whole grains have much higher fiber content, greater vitamin content and digest slower to blunt the carbohydrate release into the bloodstream.
Protein is essential. Lean meats, especially chicken breast, turkey breast. and fish, baked or steamed not fried. Extra meals should be high protein low carb, low fat such as a protein shake. (there are many on the market that are not too expensive) aNotice that I said LOW carb and fat not NO carb and fat. Keep fat to around 20% of total calories if possible.
Vegetables should be consumed at least 5 times a day. Water should be consumed aggressively 6-10 glasses a day.
Bodybuilders that are trying to gain weight use whey protein shakes in bewtween meals to provide muscles with the building blocks they need to GROW!! You have the same goal as they do: FAT loss and LEAN mass gain, So these are very helpful. They are not expensive. I get my whey protein powder at Sams Club for 22 dollars for 6 pounds. thats enough for 3-4 month at least. You can add fruit to it and blend it to make it a tastier. I add half a banana and pomegranate juice to mine. I also add my vitamin supplements to those shakes.
A brief word on supplements: a good multivitamin and an Omega 3 supplement are a great base. If you eat well supplementation will be at a minimum. I do take creatine and a resveratrol/pomegrate supplement and cranberry extract, but thats a personal choice I make based on my research and I don't make blanket recommendations beyond the Omegas because they are so important and really are hard to get in todays modern world.

2. RESISTANCE TRAINING is KEY!! The mistake that many folks who are trying to lose weight is to do all cardio and no weight training. Your weight loss regimen should be around 30-50% weight training. That means WEIGHT TRAINING or sit ups, pull ups ,chin ups, and dips.
Muscles only grow when they are pushed near thier maximum ability and when they do that they burn fat. So hit a weight room, get a buddy to help you. You might have to start at lower weights but hey they all started there. You do this for YOU and not for anyone else.

Go to the library and get an excellent book like BODY FOR LIFE by BILL MILLER. He lays it all out for you in a very motivational and educational way.
Go out get motivated, educate yourself and don't look back because only you have the power to obtain your goals YOU CAN DO IT!!

You have to make real lifestyle change and truly eat better and exercise. I know you can do it!!!! any other questions? email me at vita_min_md@yahoo.com

First, excercise is soooo important! running on a treadmill at the gym for 1/2 hour seems difficult, (it is for me... boring!!! try reading a book while running on a treadmill.. it makes the time go by if you're not watching the clock!) but it really makes a difference. If you can't get to a gym, simply taking a walk around your neighborhood or at a park is also a great way to burn extra calories. Taking the staircase instead of elevators, just little things like that...
Also, eating slowly is important. Take your time, because your stomach takes about 10 minutes to register that you've put food in it. You might find yourself full after a small meal, instead of eating a lot quickly, and then being too full. Try not to eat 3 hours before you go to sleep. If you eat right before you go to bed, then the food just sits there and the calories pile up!
I hope this helps! And even if 50 lbs isn't possible, any progress is progress!
But most importantly, if you are happy with the way you look, stay that way! Don't change yourself for other people.
Oh, and try to stay away from the scale. It's just a number! Try eating well and excercising for 2 weeks without weighing yourself, and see what happens. Weighing yourself ofter can create unhealthy obsessions with weight. Be careful!

well first of all, believe it or not; you'll see a big difference just by cutting out 500 calories in your every day diet. now for the eating, remember to eat HEALTHY losing weight is 80% what you eat and 20% working out but don't think that that means you can get away without working out! you need at least 30 minutes of cardio every day, whether it be biking, swimming, running, or walking. also throw in some aerobics or yoga. if you have comcast on demand then you can always do the free workouts! as for eating healthy, fruits and veggies are the best! but you need protein so chicken is great; as are egg whites good luck, although it will be very hard for you to lose a whole 50 pounds within a month and a half; but you couuuld lose 30, i hope you cause some heads to turn when you get back to school ! :]

3 months may be too fast and too unhealthy to lose that much weight.

The best and healthiest way to lose what you want is this.

Cut out sugary foods, sweets, snacks, desserts.
Cut out Sodas and Fruit Juices.
Cut out Beer
Stop eating out, especially fast food and chinese food...

Take a walk or some light exercise several times a week.

Your body will do the rest. It's often better to eat small meals more often throughout the day than eating a handful of large meals.

It all comes down to self control. only you have control over what you put into yourself. Just think forward to your goal and don't expect overnight results...

The main reason you should consider losing weight is health, rather than looks. Looks come as a reward for having better health. Obesity can lead to a host of health problems.

50 pounds in three months is pretty steep. A more realistic goal might be 25-30 pounds. You need to walk 4-5 miles per day and eat right. Start by cutting out sodas and not eating after 7 p.m. A lot of bad food is consumed at night!

Try to only drink water rather than soda or something like that, those instant iced tea packets for water bottles would work too (only 10 calories per packet).

Work out for an hour or more everyday, it can be just jogging, running up and back down stairs, or riding a spin bike (or normal bike if you want), going to a YMCA is a good idea. Dance classes are really fun if you want to try that also, they're usually available all summer.

Try to not eat over 2,000 calories a day, but no less than 1,500. Also, eat every 3-4 hours and eat in small portions, it helps out your metabolism.

I am in the same boat you are. I am 5'4" and I weigh 173 pd's. I have lost 8 pd's in the last month. Let me share with you what I am doing. When I wake up I have a bowl of oatmeal. I then take an energy pill called Stacker's, you can get them at Wal-Mart. I also take a B12 vitamin. Then I take a product called Cortisol Weight Loss, I but it at Cosco. For lunch I have Green Giants Simply Steam Veggies. For a snack I have a Slim Fast drink. I then have a normal dinner with my family. I have also started to run/walk 3 blocks every evening. It has worked for me so far. Everybody is different, find out what works for you. Good luck!

find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

I'm not sure you can lose that much that quickly, but you can definitely lose enough that you will feel better about yourself. I read the Dr. Phil weight loss book and joined a gym. If you combine weight lifting with a lot of cardio, your fat just melts off into little pools of sweat on the floor.
I also had to cut out all sugar, ate mostly chicken and salad for a long time. It was sooo worth it!
Also, drink lots and lots of water!!!

I'm 5'4 and 165. You don't look rediculous as long as your clothes fit.

I'd say that you can healthily lose 25lbs in 3 months just by doing the South Beach Diet. I did it last year. You will loose more if you lift weights and start running or doing cardio.

Its not going to be magical, you'll have to work for it. Good luck.
