Like it would take your body a longer time to break it down. Curious as Im eating a Kashi frozen meal (now warmed of course) and the Kashi 7 grains part of it is really chewy. Plus it really doesnt taste that good, so Im not all that interested in chewing.

No, it will just pass through your digestive tract at the same rate, only you'll get less nutrients out of it because your body doesn't have enough time to break it down. And your feces will have nuts and chunks and such... If you actually swallow a big enough chunk of solid food, you could cause yourself a blockage... Mmmm...abdominal surgery is fun!

If you're dieting, it's a better option to chew a lot. Chewing allows your senses to really take in what you're eating. And it also slows down the eating process so your body has time to recognize that it's full. If you're shoveling in food, your body may not recognize that it's full until it is well past the "Full" mark. Eating slowly, chewing thoroughly and eating deliberately (at the table, without watching tv, actually enjoying your meal) is a great, simple way to avoid over-eating.

If the Kashi meal doesnt taste good, swap it out for something that does! Don't torture yourself.

No, you wouldn't. It would take more time to digest, but not enough of a difference that you wouldn't feel hungry in a couple hours anyway, like anything else.

In fact, chew your food slowly, and take sips of water between bites. By the time you finish, 20 minutes will have gone by, which is how long it takes the stomach to tell the brain you're full. :)

When the food has passed through the mouth into the stomach its named bolus. the bigger the particles the longer it takes for it to break down. Proteins take longer to break down, Carbs. less time. The digestive enzymes in the stomach called pepsin is mixed with hydrochloric acid (HCL)which helps break down food in the stomach. The amount of HCL is dependant on the type and quantity of food. So, yes it does take longer to break it down if you dont chew well.

Yes it would make you full longer, because it would take you body longer to digest. However, your body will also derive less nutrients from you meal, and you stomach will retain more gas. Constantly not chewing you food will result in digestive problems.

No, you'll probably feel bloated and gassy because it's traveling through your system slower.
Plus, you have a higher risk of choking.

never heard of that. However I heard that if you continuously drink water during a meal, in between bites.. you'll eat less, get fuller faster.

once it hits your digestive track -- it's all mush--whatever doesn't digest, comes out whole.
