It is impossible to be 100% sure their is a God or if their isn't. Can atheists have an open mind. Could God be disguising himself really well just to test us? What is there to lose if you believe in him?

I accept totally that there is at least a 30% chance there is no God. Why are there so many extremists?

I keep hearing stories about pixies and bigfoot and fairies and leprechauns but has any human went through with extreme scenarios for them?

I believe in a higher power, the one or ones refer to as God. Is there a single grain of truth in all religions.

If God didn't exist how could he have made anybody do anything? If he did exist how could he physically kill his own son?

I had never heard of Pascals Wager before now when I looked up wikipedia.

Actually it is theoretically possible to be 100% sure there is a God. That would require proof though. I can understand how people of faith like you are at 70%.

I'm about as close to zero as you can get. I'm open to the possibility of there being something out there that I don't understand. In that tiniest fraction of a percent, half is covered by something no one has thought of yet, and the other half is shared equally by every single God anyone has ever come up with including Odin, Zeus and the Flying Spaghetti Monster. Just because they are all hypothetically and theoretically possible.

Might as well be zero.

Kudos for spelling "lose" right, kicks for turning this into Pascal's Wager.

And which god would I believe in?

What would you think if I said something like, "Maybe there ARE flying pink unicorns. Maybe they're just disguising themselves really well to test us!"? You would find that to be ridiculous. And yet, there's no more evidence for the existence of a magical, supernatural, invisible super-being in the sky than there is for invisible pink unicorns.
No, I can't say with 100% certainly that there isn't a God, any more than anyone can say with 100% certainty that there IS a God. But I have no reason whatsoever to believe that there is a God. It is not foolish to lack belief in something there is no evidence for, and I refuse to just take it on "faith". If I was to just have "faith" that there is a magical, supernatural, invisible super-being in the sky, then I'll have to just have "faith" that ANYTHING the imagination can come up with exists.

It doesn't really matter what any human "went through" for them. Anything that any human has "gone through" for any deity is based on their BELIEF in that deity There's still no actual evidence for that deity.

can you accept that you are 30% unsure that there aren't invisible fairies at the bottom of my garden

Yes it's entirely possible to be 100% sure there isn't a god. Extraordinary things require extraordinary evidence. Your god doesn't even have ordinary evidence.

You think god hides himself to test us. you don't think playing hide and seek is a little childish?

What is there for you to lose in believing in all the other thousands of the dieties aren't there. Aren't you just super lucky to have been born into a family that happens to believe in the exactly correct sect of the exactly correct religion.

no, the chance that there is no god is 99.999% recurring to infinity that there is no god/gods. as far as i know there is not a single scrap of evidence that there are any gods except anecdotes and tall stories. my mind is open but that doesn't mean all my sense fell out. if you want me to accept the possibility of god you might as well want me to accept that goldilocks and the three bears are real because they are based on a story as well. you can only have an open mind if there is a least some possibility of there being some evidence, as far as i know ther is none for go, any god, nor does it seem likely there will be any in the future.

I am 100% sure there is no God. For God sake shut up about it. Not the testing us bull again. WE DON'T BELIEVE IN GOD - END OF! You sound as if you are questioning your faith. Is this your own insecurity coming out. Trying to justify that you are doubtful that the made up man is real? And what there is to loose is a waste of a life!

Ask yourself, what percentage of belief do you have in the tooth-fairy ? How about Santa Claus ?
How can I have any percentage of belief, if I believe in no supernaturals at all ?
It's impossible to believe in something just to be safe. You can say you believe, or pretend to believe, but that's not really believing. Our minds and intelligence dictates what we will believe or not believe.
To change that, some new evidence must be digested by the brain. Where's the new evidence ?

Atheism is lack of belief, so sure, if you like, I'll be unsure about 30% of my lack.
There's nothing to lose if in believing in a deity, but why bother, no advantage in doing so and a lot of effort. If a god is testing us by hiding then I'd think he/she/it was pretty immature and not worth my time anyway.

i am absolutely positive their is no god.i have always worked in the fields of technical knowledge where their can be no doubt at all for maybe to be the outcome.scientifically and logically by unadulterated thought patterns you can think with a clear mind.dismissing brainwash of any kind.their is but one great force in the universe and that is nature.it creates and it destroys.god is merely a euphemism used by the uninitiated in hope of something else better in their lives.i will add one thing to your belief.only satan could kill his only son.what do you think about your god now.?

Pascal's wager? Again?

Read the texts, study the history and political situations of the era and you too can come to the point I am where I can say without question...

There is no god!!!

If you are unsure, then so be it. I am sure
