In some cases one company has bought another. I think that happened with Mayonnaise. There was an eastern brand called Hellman's (?) and I think their company bought Best Foods in the west but rather than re-brand, which is expensive, they just kept the Best Foods name in the west cause everybody was used to it.

There can be a lot of answers to that question. It may be that the parent company bought that brand name from another company previously because it had better name recognition for your area. It may also be under different marketing concepts.

For instance: I used to work for Schwan's Sales based in Marshall, Minnesota. Schwan's is a home delivery company that delivers hundreds of frozen food and ice cream products nationwide. People buy anything from Pizza to Egg Rolls right off the truck which visits their home about every 2 weeks. Schwan's is the parent company of Tony's and Red Baron Pizza (who deliver their pizza products to retail stores). They also own "Pagoda" egg roll products as well as at least 20-30 other brand names. The recipes may vary a little between the home delivery version and the store version but they're owned by the same company.

I hope this helps a little as one potential explanation.

thats because they are different cultures. take mcdonalds for example. in the US, they serve regular beef products, the normal menu. but in china or japan, the menu changes dramactically and some countries do not serve ice cream. its about talirong to their culture. if mcdonalds didnt take their culture into consideration, they would not exist over there.
